Re: Mint 19.2 will not boot with external USB turned on

I'm not sure what you mean by "enclosed in the code tags using the icon 5th from the left '</>'", a newbie here so it's not obvious to me what you mean by that statement. I ran the first three commands and piped the output to a file, and the result is in a attached file log.txt. As far as booting wi...

Re: Newbie Multi Hard Disk Install

For now I made my final install, I'm now working on setting up Linux with all the apps and gadgets I need. I ended using the following which turns out to be a waste of space, but for now I need to move on, other PCs will profit from my learning journey; 240 GB SSD mounted a "/" 512 GB Hard disk moun...

Re: Newbie Multi Hard Disk Install

I was thinking about it today and came to the same conclusion that the space was being eaten by the auto backup feature.

Where would be a good place to put the backups or should I turn it off or should it be turned off and done manually once in while?

Thanks

Re: Newbie Multi Hard Disk Install

Interesting, my previous Linux install used the whole 220 GB drive for / and before I formatted and re-installed the whole thing I only had 5% left not a good place to be that is why I'm thinking of using the whole 480 GB drive instead. Right now I use the whole 220 GB for / and the 3 TB drive for /...

Re: Abandoned: Hello everyone from "Rally On Dude" in Ontario, Canada

Hi Everyone, I am a Newbie to Linux like most of you. Probably, you all gave-up like me, on Windows after the plethora of Service Packs, Glitches, Blue Screens, etc. There is one thing from MS, the Office Suite and its integrate modules, that I will miss. Though it is a space hog that has grown wit...

Re: New member to forum

What I usually do is when I buy a DVD or Blue Ray Disk is that I rip it, store it on my NAS drives and put away the original, from then on I use the NAS copy to view the video anywhere in the house, that works well for me. I also keep a 2TB HD with copies of my favorite movies and series to use whe...

Re: New member to forum

+1 on MakeMKV, you also need handbrake: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:stebbins/handbrake-releases apt update sudo apt-get install handbrake-gtk Ripped all my DVD collection and put them on my NAS. I wouldn't say it was as straightforward as DVDfab (which I had a look at), but it is free. I installed ...

Hello, everyone, my name is Cecil Bayona and I been playing with Linux Mint for a while but now I'm seriously dumping Windows 10 on my main PCs and switching to Linux Mint with the Cinnamon Desktop.
