Re: Remote desktop all users
I found my answer here https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=192846 . Hopefully it will work for LM19. x11vnc is my server of choice, but be aware that the version in the Mint 19 repos is reported as buggy and prone to crashing. There are workarounds towards the tail end of this bugreport - ...

Re: User disappeared from the users list
I checked the AccountService directory and there is indeed a file for each user with SystemAccount=true. That is no doubt in fact it then. Which is to say I might as well have simply suggested it instead of trying to reproduce but I didn't want to throw out a "random" notion without check...

Re: User disappeared from the users list
Just not reproducing. I on a new Mint 19 Cinnamon 64-bit VM tried: 1. as "rene" (1000) add users foo (1001) and bar (1002) through Users and Groups. 2. logout or reboot to see them on the login screen 3. as "rene", sudo usermod -u 503 foo, sudo usermod -u 504 bar 4. logout or re...

Re: One click or two?
Single clicking on Windows. I spend all day at my computer doing Autocad so saving clicks helps. I've got a Logitech G602 with 20 programmable buttons with shortcuts for Autocad, DisplayFusion (window management) and mDesktop (multiple desktops). Yep, single clicking all the way. How do you set it i...

Remote desktop all users
Hi, I'm a recent Mac convert and with the help of this forum and the Internet, I've gotten remote desktop sharing working on my Mint 19 installation. But it's not working the way I would like, ie. the way it did on the Mac. Let me describe the behaviour I'm trying to achieve. On our Mac, remote desk...

Re: User disappeared from the users list
You did not specify how you changed UID's from 1000-1002 to 502-504 and back. OP did through manual editing of /etc/passwd and when I do likewise, even though the now 502-504 users disappear from the Mint 19 Cinnamon login screen, they reappear the second I manually change them back to 1000-1002. H...

Re: User disappeared from the users list
I'm having the same problem as the OP except I installed Cinnamon Mint 19 onto a 2007 Mac Mini. It's dual booting with Ubuntu 14.04. I created the initial user during installation and two subsequent users with the Users & Groups afterwards. The uids of the 3 users are 1000, 1001, & 1002. I h...

Re: Getting mouse or keyboard to wake Mac Mini from suspend
All right, that worked! So are these USB port specific, or can I plug the keyboard and wireless receiver into any port and have this work still?

Re: Getting mouse or keyboard to wake Mac Mini from suspend
Yes indeed. Some forums I'm on prefer tacking onto existing threads. I hate the "do a search" reply or the 50 page thread where's it's hard to find the answer.
Anyway, negative, no joy on either. It only wakes up with the power button still.

[SOLVED] Getting mouse or keyboard to wake Mac Mini from suspend
I just installed Linux Mint 19 on my Mac Mini 2007. When I suspend it, I can't wake it using the keyboard (Apple) or mouse (Logitech G602 wireless). I have to use the power button to wake it. There was a similar thread but that was for a PC and the solution there didn't work for me. Here's some addi...

Re: Getting mouse or keyboard to wake PC from suspend
Yes, that's perfect, thank you. Now do this: cat /sys/bus/usb/devices/4-3/power/wakeup I would expect it to say disabled . If it does, then do this: echo enabled | sudo tee /sys/bus/usb/devices/4-3/power/wakeup Suspend your system and see if you can wake it up with mouse and/or keyboard (this isn't...
