Re: Mint 19.1 won't recognize 128GB microSDXC UHS-1 SD CARD

Hi Karl,

I will try your suggestions. First Dell support then the mmc_block.

I'll get back with the results.

Re: Mint 19.1 won't recognize 128GB microSDXC UHS-1 SD CARD

Hi Karl, 1. I tried all 3 links and either found no solution or one that is not suitable (i.e., using the sd to USB converter, please see item 2 below). However, I could have easily missed something :) 2. I have a Sony MRW68E USB multi card reader which will read the 128GB SDXC card. Problem with th...

Hey Karl,

Looks like you are onto something. I'll try and get back with the results.

The SDXC USB vs PCI was a real eye opener for me. Thanks.

Re: Mint 19.1 won't recognize 128GB microSDXC UHS-1 SD CARD

Hi Karl,

I just tried running Mint 19.1 64 bit Tessa live, but when booting an error message flashed by that said something like "error initializing SD card, error 110"

Any ideas?

Re: Mint 19.1 won't recognize 128GB microSDXC UHS-1 SD CARD

Hi Karl, Thanks to you and Andy for taking the time to help. Your findings are encouraging that a soln is there somewhere. The card I'm using is the same as yours, except it's not a "pro": SanDisk Extreme Plus microSDXC UHS-1 Card I noticed that your Mint desktop is slightly earlier. Could that be i...

Re: MINT 19.1 WON'T RECOGNIZE 128GB microSDXC UHS-1 SD CARD

Andy, Yes. I have two 128GB microSDXC cards, one formatted ext3/ext4, and the other NTFS (Mint properties doesn't say NTFS, it says "fuse" but I know it's NTFS because I just formatted it in W10). But if either 128GB card is in the SD card slot, Mint ignores them. Go figure.

Re: MINT 19.1 WON'T RECOGNIZE 128GB microSDXC UHS-1 SD CARD

Pierre, Please see my edits above. I do appreciate the help. Because I have a lot of stuff on this Dell (a very nice laptop, BTW; has a 1TB WD HDD and I added a superfast M2 512 GB Samsung EVO for the OS) I'm having a hard time doing Timeshift backups to a 64GB card. Just too small. And since Timesh...

Re: MINT 19.1 WON'T RECOGNIZE 128GB microSDXC UHS-1 SD CARD

I edited this post. I checked Synaptics SW Mgr and yes, ntfs-3g is installed, version 1:2017.3.23-2ubuntu0.18.04.2. Mint Disks won't see the 128GB card at all. I booted W10 and, after seeing the chasing dots of madness and remembering how much I hate windows, I found that the card had a 32 GB FAT32 ...

Mint 19.1 won't recognize 128GB microSDXC UHS-1 SD CARD

I need mint to see this card so I can use it with Timeshift (currently Mint only sees up to 64GB cards). Laptop is a 2019 Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series 5570 with 8th gen i7. Mint Kernel is 4.15.0-47-generic x86_64 bits. Has built-in SD card slot that accepts the micro SD via an adapter. Windows 10 se...

Scroll bars

I just got TB and FF working on Mint 19. Thanks to all the helpful replies I got. All that remains, near as I can tell, is to make the scroll bars work like they do in Windows versions of TB and FF (i.e, when you mouse click below the scroll bar handle, the screen only changes by one page, and line-...

Any recommendations for Linux Mint anti-virus and internet security?

I got Mint working, it's real nice. About to leave the Microsoft plantation! But I need antivirus, firewall, and malware programs. Running an Intel based ASUS machine, which came with Win7. Any suggestions? Is Symantec able to run under Mint? What about Malware-bytes? Your wisdom will be appreciated.

I have the cake, now I want the icing... Almost off the Microsoft plantation! [FF PROFILE SOLVED, THANKS!]

Thanks to all the great postings, getting Linux Mint 19 running on my Win 7 laptop was a slam dunk! Many thanks to the Mint team, Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.8.3 (what a nice program!), the Linux Mint Installation Guide, J.A. Watson (ZDnet) and Graham Linux (Youtube). Now I have some new questions: ...

How to make a bootable USB to install LM19

I'm a Linux newbie. I have an ASUS X53S laptop running Win7. I hate it. I'm planning to use Mint 19 (Tara) because I tried Cinn 64bit 18.2 and liked the desktop. That was last winter; alas I forgot how I did it. On my ASUS I made a 49 GB Linux partition. I plan to copy the Mint 19 ISO to this partit...
