Re: Power indicator on Desktop say using battery power

So I checked and I already have libupower-glib3 , gir1.2-upowerglib-1.0 installed. The upower version I guess is the issue but I'd rather not try to add sid or buster sources to my system just for this issue so I suppose I'l just wait and hope the needed fixes get backported. As mentioned, the icon ...

Re: Power indicator on Desktop say using battery power

I'm also seeing this issue, but on LMDE3. The applet icon changes to battery w/ lightning bolt but cursor hover reports "Using battery power" regardless if on AC or battery power. Also, clicking on Power Settings no longer brings up the Power Statistics control panel. % upower -d Device: /org/freede...

Re: LMDE3-Cindy can't turn off Touchpad

I'm not entirely sure I understand your issue as there is in fact an "Enable touchpad" option in the Mouse and Touchpad system settings. That should do it I'd think. I was drawn to this post because what I wanted was a way to use a laptop's built-in touchpad hardware switch without triggering the OS...

Re: Guest logins an option with lightdm + slick-greeter?

Looks like something is missing in Debian for the guest session to work, so it's disabled in lightdm-settings tool. Ah yes, this seems to be the situation. That's okay, I will make a permanent guest account and do 'chmod 700 /home/*' to prevent browsing of other users, good enough for my needs.

Re: Guest logins an option with lightdm + slick-greeter?

On LM19 you just have to toggle "Allow guest sessions" in the Login Window app (lightdm-settings). Don't you have that on LMDE3? No, that option apparently isn't displayed in lightdm-settings on LMDE3 . I think I'll try a different greeter to see if the problem lies with slick-greeter which is what...

[SOLVED] Guest logins an option with lightdm + slick-greeter?

I'd like to enable guest logins on a stock LMDE3 system, the kind that are dynamically created and wiped once the guest logs out. Is that an option with the native verisions of lightdm and slick-greeter that ships with LMDE3? The guest-session options appear to be enabled in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.con...

Thanks. You're absolutely right, people that suffer from social and cognitive deficiencies shouldn't be discriminated against. I wish only the best for catweazel - may he overcome!

Re: Setting Metacity as default DE

Anyway.. I've installed dwm(1) and will just use that; very fast and no more hunting around Cinnamon's various configs or reading snarky unhelpful forum posts.

Mark this SOLVED.

Re: Setting Metacity as default DE

Well, yeah I know they are not equivalent, however out of the box LMDE3 falls back to Metacity, aka "failsafe mode", so there should be some way to skip the "Cinnamon has crashed; do you want to restart it?" >> click 'No' >> continue with session using Metacity and I guess whatever supporting Cinnam...

Setting Metacity as default DE [SOLVED] (sort of)

I installed LMDE3/32bit on an older laptop with just 1GB of RAM which I think is the reason Cinnamon crashes each time I log in. However it seems that the Metacity window manager is the fallback "failsafe" when this happens and so I think I'd like to just make Metacity my default and skip Cinnamon (...
