Re: Kernel 5.4.0.42.46~18.04.35

Well, it's dysfuntional for YOUR machine, not for all. Without any system details it's hard to say. Actually with Mint 19.x unless you have very new hardware there's probably no need for anything later than a 4.15 series kernel. This isn't WIndows, Linux has very little backwards compatibility, and...

I think in Update Manager, Edit, Preferences, just uncheck the last 2 boxes & hit Apply that might do it.
This has been a learning experience for me. The community aspect of Linux Mint,,,there is none elsewhere. Most grateful sleeper12.

Re: Update but No Network

You can see your present kernel with: uname -r You want your previous generic kernel. Great. Now one last question. When I receive a kernel update in Update Manager and I do not want to install it, how do I delete it from the Update Manager without installing it and the taskbar icon stops nagging m...

Re: Update but No Network

Some have better luck getting into Grub by tapping the Esc key at boot rather than holding the Shift key down. Either way, it can be tricky & might take several attempts. The Esc brought me into Grub. There are half dozen kernels which have two options. One is generic, the other is recovery mode. I...

Re: Update but now no networking

You should be able to enter Grub by holding the Shift key down at boot. Upon boot I am given these options F1 to enter Bios Setup Utility F9 Regulatory Information F10 to diagnose hardware F12 to choose a temporary startup device. This is Lenovo startup which boots before Linux Mint. What do you su...

Re: Kernel 5.4.0.42.46~18.04.35

.... I have what seems to be a dysfunctional kernel update sitting in the Update Manager - something which is mildly irritating. I wonder if anyone else has had the same or a similar problem? I also wonder what the problem is with the latest kernel, if it is a general problem and if it is likely to...

Re: Update but now no networking

Do you still have a wifi driver in use? Check before you go back to the previous kernel: lspci -nnk | grep -iA3 net I don't know how to answer that. 04:00 Ethernet controller [0200]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. You can select the previous kernel in Grub, Advanced Options, then remove the current kernel in Update Manager, View, Linux kernels & reboot.
Grub is not installed on my system. Since I don't have an internet connection I cannot download it.

SOLVED-Update but No Network

This evening a kernel update notice came on my laptop. As in the past I immediately installed it but this time I have no networking. The wifi networks are there but I cannot connect to any of them. Any suggestions? Can I go back to the previous kernel or timestamp? If so please provide the steps for...

Re: Older Linux Kernels

Hi, Ragz. Launch Update Manager. Go to View => Linux-Kernel. Locate all the (old) kernels, which Update Manager labels as "installed". Delete them by clicking on [Remove]. Update Manager will cleanly uninstall them. The kernel location on your filesystem is /boot. But what you see there, the boot i...

SOLVED-Moem we would like an update on Ubuntu Touch!

Moem
can you provide us an update on the OneTouch thread which ran a couple of months ago. How is everything going with some of the issues you had at that time and your present experiences. Was it all worth it?

Re: Lithium Battery dead

Thanks for all the comments. I believe I did shut it down but perhaps I did not. Will certainly be more conscious what I am doing the next time. And also the comment about the battery going through a few cycles is one idea was not aware of.
