PS1 controller for playing on Mint

Hi everyone! I have a little problem. I'm trying to connect a Playstation 1 controller to my computer and I managed to do so by using an USB adapter (from PS1/Ps2 to usb) and the jstest-gtk application. The problem is that it recognizes all buttons (also analog sticks) excepted the "Cross", "Square"...

Re: More active Facebook page

 Well, I guarantee (for personal experience) that the majority of people are attracted by beautiful and well managed pages. Linux Mint is already famous, but it still has so much potential! :D

More active Facebook page

Hi! I noticed that the Facebook page of Linux Mint is bit boring. There are only posts which link to blog news. They are useful, for sure, but I think that they are not enough. I think that through Facebook there's the possibility to get a lot of new users. But there's the need of more inclusive pos...

I always use a BitTorrent to get my Mints. Torrent checks the file integrity as part of its normal Collect-Fragments-From-Peers operation.
I'll keep that in mind :) Thank you so much!

Re: Error loading operative system

Problem solved! The problem was the download mirror. I was always using a german mirror (I choosed from this list https://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=263) but I didn't know it could be a problem. I changed to the Spanish mirror and it worked perfectly (with the same procedure and same usb key)....

Re: Error loading operative system

Is this the exact same USB (and data) you used to install Mint successfully on your computer, or did you "burn" the ISO fresh? If the latter, did you make sure the ISO you downloaded was an exact bit-for-bit copy (by comparing its checksum to what was listed) and, having done so and still had the i...

Ensure your installer USB is the first place it looks when starting an OS.
Yes, I modifies the BIOS' boot options before the installation, USB is the first choice, HDD is the last.

[SOLVED] Error loading operative system

Hi! Today I tried to install Mint 19.1 on my brother's laptop but I had a problem. I tried to install it with an USB (I also used this method with my computer) but I didn't manage to install it because it said "Error loading operative system." The notebook is about 8 years old, an acer aspire 64 bit...

Always empty boxes

Hi! I noticed that the boxes where you can put in a "tick" are always empty. I'll try to explain better  When I right-click on the audio icon (in my desktop panel) I can set audio to "Mute": now, even if I set it to mute, it remains empty, nothing appears inside the square. You can see an e...

Question about donations

Hi all! I was wondering how the donation mechanism works for Linux Mint. In fact I noticed that it is an Ltd. company. Is there some particular rule in Ireland that permits donations to an Ltd? And if it's so, do you pay some taxes on the donations? I'm only asking for curiosity :D

LMDE based on Debian Testing

Hi all! I was wondering if there is the possibility of having a LMDE based on Debian Testing in the future. Current version is based on Debian Stable and software versions are old, as you know. I don't think that adding repos can fix the problem because with the passing of the time the versions "div...

[SOLVED] Why some software doesn't update

Hi all! :) I was wondering why some of my installed software get updates regurarly (when they are available), and others does not? All software that I'm talking aboout has been installed with the software manager. For example, I use qBittorrent v.4.0.3 but the actual version is 4.1.5. Same problem w...

Re: Not equally distributed CPU workload

There's "Invalid settings detection" because I assigned 50½ of memory to the virtual OS, and VB thinks that this is a problem. Anyway thanks for your answers, I will also ask on VB forum section :)
