OK, thanks, found it!
Just to be clear, this "Input Method" you speak of was found in the "Control Center"; it's not some software package I go searching for (in "Software Manager"):

[SOLVED]: Simplified Chinese character input with fcitx5: which flavour of Linux Mint?
Hello, I'm an LMDE5 user myself (longtime Linux user, but have no Chinese language skill), and a Chinese friend - new to Linux - has a Lenovo G50-45 laptop. 8GB of RAM. This friend will want to input both English, and Simplified Chinese characters. That Lenovo is 4-5 years old, with an AMD A6 CPU - ...

Re: When an sftp:// link is clicked in Firefox, how to "spawn" that in Nemo?
Absolutely nothing happens. No error messages, no dialog boxes, etc. The Firefox action seems to be ignored in LMDE5. Even if Firefox is launched from a console to watch for error messages on the console - nope. Nothing happens. BTW: if anyone wants to test this out in an easy way, just install the ...

When an sftp:// link is clicked in Firefox, how to "spawn" that in Nemo?
Hello, I'm using LMDE 5. I have an SFTP server, (as in, the subsystem of SSH, not FTP-over-TLS). I can connect to that SFTP server graphically just fine using Nemo's "File" Menu -> Connect to Server -> Type -> SSH. And similarly, I can also connect to the same SFTP server (same user accoun...

sudo asks for password in every new terminal
Hello. In the past I used MX Linux 21. One of the neat tweaks they did (that I wish I could have back again in LMDE5) was that once you used sudo in one terminal, providing your correct password (and succeeding), then magically, all the other terminals inherited the "easement" of needing t...

Re: [SOLVED] Is there a GUI desktop frontend to git that you'd recommend?
I patiently read all the chapters pertaining to the basics of using git in the "Git Pro" eBook here . I've been using git just on the command line for about 2 years (for version-controlling and publishing a jekyll website of mine). So that's why I could pick up git-cola quickly just now. G...

So yeah, awesome recommendation on git-cola.

[SOLVED] Is there a GUI desktop frontend to git that you'd recommend?
Hello. I’m not referring to web-based git frontends here, such as github, or gitlabs. I’m talking about when you have a local git repository, and you just want a simple gui for git (stand-alone, integrated into an IDE, a text editor, or maybe even a file browser such as nemo ), which can minimally d...

Quickly cutting out video clips, but keeping same resolution, codec, format, etc.
- Vidcutter 6.0 worked poorly for me. It didn't make the cuts where I very specifically asked it to. The end result had the cut done, but was several seconds out, and didn't even remove the portion I tried to exclude . Terrible! :( - LosslessCut (3.0.1) wouldn't even launch whatsoever. The AppImage ...

Re: VirtualBox install only has 32-bit options?
BTW: I installed the "Oracle VM Virtualbox Extension Pack" 6.0.12 as well, then restarted the computer, and that didn't help either.

[SOLVED] VirtualBox install only has 32-bit options?
I've got this problem myself. I've got an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, which is definately 64-bit. In the BIOS settings, there are no options for enabling or disabling VT-x and AMD-V. cat /proc/cpuinfo |grep -E "vmx|svm" ...indeed shows "svm" is there. I've installed Linux Mint MATE 19....

FFMPEG how install from official PPA
My ffmpeg is still version 3.4.4-0ubuntu0.18.04.1. The FFmpeg site currently has directions for installing the latest version in Debian and Ubuntu, but not Linux Mint. I'm guessing I should follow their directions with respect to Ubuntu 18.04? But FFmpeg lists no directions specific to Ubuntu 18.04 ...
