Re: Make the Steam UI larger?

There was very little there that seemed relevant to my question. Oh well, back to windows I guess. That whole "just works" thing. I'll warn others away as well.

Make the Steam UI larger?

Hi all, just wanted to stop by and ask if anyone knows how to make the steam u.i larger. Which config files to edit in 2020, and where exactly they're located. I once found a guide that detailed exactly how to do it, but I can't find that guide for the life of me. iirc it made use of the command lin...

Re: Trying to resize window borders and control buttons

Thanks to both for the help! Yes it looks like that site is where I need to be. But as a newb, I'm having a little trouble installing anything. Can either of you explain why I'm getting this link when I try to install the OCS Store? If I understand correctly, I can't install a theme without the stor...

Re: Trying to resize window borders and control buttons

Thank you for the reply. I did that, and it worked. However, I would like to ask if there is a way to change the window buttons themselves. Maybe pick out a different theme, where the buttons look different. I changed the HDPI, but if you notice, you don't get a whole lot of options that way. You ju...

Trying to resize window borders and control buttons

Hi all. I'm trying to resize the top borders of the windows, as well as the control buttons. Those little buttons in the top right for minimizing the window, closing the window, etc. Those buttons are too tiny for me and are difficult to see. The whole window border also seems really small. I'm usin...

Re: Will we get an alexa or cortana?

Possible scenario: Sitting in living room listening to / discussing news item and "AI" launches a search including undesireable terms. Far as I know it won't do that. Cause they're designed to even be able to tell what you are saying to them, when music is playing. Or other loud n...

The IBM purchase of Red hat

I didn't see another thread related to this topic, so if there is one, please post me a link to it. If not, I just have a couple of questions that maybe someone here can answer. I may not have always used linux, but its safe to say that I've always been a fan. And thus, I find this news to be kind o...

Re: Has anyone considered BSD

So now I have to ask about abandoned packages. In BSD, would it even matter? It would still work, right? So what would be the problem? I mean, if we look at a different OS, say Windows Xp. There must be warehouses full of abandon ware for that OS. But, you could still load it up and run it if you wa...

Has anyone considered BSD

I have been looking at OpenBSD lately, just because I like looking at operating systems. Kind of a "just for fun" thing. And apparently there are several things that it does better than linux. However, I question whether that even matters. At what point does it stop mattering which OS is t...

Re: Well I give up

Everybody is constantly installing, reinstalling, formatting, etc. All you ever hear about is people distro hopping and trying out this or that. I know here come the exceptions who've never done it but its pretty common.

Re: Will we get an alexa or cortana?

Yeah my wife bought an Echo from amazon but it was agreed that unless she is using it, it stays unplugged in the back room. No kids, so it just sits there for weeks or months at a time with no power going to it. When the Mycroft 2 comes out I'll get that and trash Alexa. As for usefulness though, I'...

Thanks! I will follow that one closely. :)

I'll buy one if I can at this point. Looks like they're working on version 2.

Re: Well I give up

I did say I can't complain because its free. But I was hoping that after all this time, some team had just knocked it out of the park. That happens with stuff from time to time. Not frequently, but it does happen. I just love the windows environment. I even saw a video where someone put it on linux!...

Will we get an alexa or cortana?

Will the open source types ever get a cortana or an alexa? Not those specifically, but our own variant that isn't a scumbag. Something that would pass the turing test, but isn't just spying on you as hard as it possibly can. Something open source, so that everyone can check the code and verify that ...

Re: Well I give up

Doesn't seem like you can multi quote on this forum You can. Seems like you jumped to conclusions, instead of asking. (I think I see a pattern here.) Ah, so like linux you can make it work if you really want to. But its unlike like the other forums, and not intuitive. (I think I see a pattern here)...

Re: Well I give up

[/quote] Begs the question, If windoze is so "polished" why are you looking at Linux, any derivative? Sorry, I will disagree, that Linux is not as polished as Windwoes. It is waaaaay more stable, doens't require the high maintenance of windoze and, with a bit (a little bit, mind you) of ef...

Well I give up

I'm not sure if there is any point to making this thread, other than I think everyone should talk about their experiences, so that the main issues that tend to bug everyone, get out into the public consciousness and may someday be fixed. These are just my experiences. That out of the way, be warned ...

Firefox themes don't work despite being same version as W10?

This one seems a bit odd to me. So I have Firefox on Windows 10, and on Linux Mint. And its the same version. Both Quantum, both version 63.0.3 But if I'm using Windows, I can install black themes such as Deep Dark, or Nasa Night launch. I love these themes, they make firefox so much more enjoyable ...
