Re: FHD and QHD combination question

I saw how 27" 4K does look like without any text scaling and it seemed that everything was more tiny than FHD on 13.3 screen. I double checked my laptop - 1.3 text scaling are most comfortable for me. And I want to have more or less the same text size on external monitor, taking into account that li...

Re: FHD and QHD combination question

Connection can be DP or HDMI, budget is not biggest issue as my main priority is my eyes. My main wish is to decide which monitor to get looking from the dpi/resolution/screen size point of view at first as at least for now it is not possible to use different scaling on different monitors and from t...

FHD and QHD combination question

Hi, I have laptop with FHD with 13.3 screen. I use 1.3 fonts scaling. As Mint does not support multimonitor scaling - what external monitor with what resolution would you recommend? I thought about 24 or 27 screen with QHD resolution. As such resolution with no scaling is a little bit overkill for m...

Re: from 19 to 19.1??

Yes, I use screensavers to prevent monitors from burning in. My monitors are on 24x7, they go to powersaving only after 30 minutes, so at least for me screensaver is a must. I know about this post but I wonder why is there no native screensaver in cinnamon at all? Is it so hard to implement such a t...

Re: from 19 to 19.1??

I've upgraded to 19.1 from 19 and one thing makes me very very VERY sad - there is no way to select ANY screensaver anymore. In general - you'll not have any decent screensaver anymore if you do not want to do any additional hacks :/

Re: Linux Mint 19.1 screensaver selection

Nope, the default is a static image (the same as your desktop background) with a floating/moving clock. If you have music playing you also by default get floating/moving album art. It is very strange that mint team removed xscreensaver hacks (ability to choose various screensavers) and didn't offer...

Re: Linux Mint 19.1 screensaver selection

I'll repeat my question :) Do I understand this right that the default way of cinnamon-screensaver is to show static lock screen with no moving parts in the screen?

Re: Linux Mint 19.1 screensaver selection

Do I understand this right that the default way of cinnamon-screensaver is to show static lock screen with no moving parts in the screen? I'm rather new to mint - what gives these options: album art/media controls. Nope it's never had any other native options other than the default with the album ar...

Re: Linux Mint 19.1 screensaver selection

Ok, so cinnamon screensaver does not support any third party screen saver hacks anymore. But does it have any native screensavers at all if I want to use native approach and do not want to use any hacks? I was not able to find any ability to select screensaver in 19.1 version of linux mint :( Cinnam...

Re: Linux Mint 19.1 screensaver selection

Do you mean that the screensaver-settings have been removed from the general settings menu? I mean that in 19.1 version, when I open screensaver app, there is no "Screensaver" section anymore, only "Settings" and "Customize" sections. I'm starting to doubt that this section disappeared when I remov...

Linux Mint 19.1 screensaver selection

Hi, Upgrade post says: ---- If you are running the Cinnamon edition, you can also remove the XScreensaver hacks. These are no longer supported by the Cinnamon screensaver. To remove them, open a terminal and type: apt remove --purge xscreensaver-data xscreensaver-data-extra xscreensaver-gl xscreensa...

Linux mint upgrade to 19.1 and panels

Hi,

Another thing I've noticed when upgrade was done. I had several panels prior upgrade, I had various icons on these panels. I did upgrade from 19.0 to 19.1. Changed panel layout to "Traditional" one. And I noticed, that all of my custom panels are gone :( Is it expected behaviour or is it a bug?

Re: Linux Mint upgrade from 19.0 to 19.1 log

Have a look at the following and see if that's what you are looking for: /var/log/apt/history.log /var/log/dpkg.log Also: Update Manager: View: History of updates Hi, history.log shows only which packages were upgraded and not the whole upgrade process (package after package). dpkg.log shows not ex...

[SOLVED] Linux Mint upgrade from 19.0 to 19.1 log

Hi, So I did upgrade. It seems that all went fine but I'm interested in the following - is there any mint upgrade log? I was able to open upgrade details window, where I was able to see how packages are upgraded but I want to examine this upgrade procedure in more detail. So is there any log file wh...

Re: 'Turn off screen when inactive' works intermittently

Is the same true even I manually lock the screen? But in my case I use the same programs everytime - remmina, terminal, firefox. And I don't have any videos playing in firefox. I even use auto tab discard addon in firefox. And screen saver turns on without any single problem only monitors are not tu...

It is strange, but I can see the same behaviour and on Linux Mint 19. Sometimes monitors are turned off, but sometimes they stay on:/
