Re: New installation looks "washed out"

I could not change or do anything under color profiles. I installed it on another ProBook and same exact issue. I gave up on them. Currently trying with a Dell Latitude E5570

Re: New installation looks "washed out"

None of these worked. But thanks for trying. I suppose I will give up on this particular machine and try another. https://itsfoss.com/fix-brightness-ubuntu-1310 Not too recent (Ubuntu 17.10?), and the author advises sudo gedit .... This progressive scheme for fixing brightness issues that I ...

Re: New installation looks "washed out"

It's not the theme...the GREEN part is completely different. I noticed it on my work machine today as well (it looks fine and it's Windows).

I took a pic side by side with my MacBook which looks fine. The pic doesn't do the difference justice: the one on the left is WAYY lighter and harder to read.

Re: New installation looks "washed out"

I am looking at the screenshot on another computer and it looks perfect :/

Everything is too bright, hard to read, very...washed out. Maybe I should take a phone pic.

New installation looks "washed out"

Hi all. I just installed Mint 19 MATE on a HP ProBook G60 which has a Radeon HD 8750m video card. Everything looks so washed out! I tried changing to Cinnamon but no go. I'm not sure how to tell which video driver I'm using. If anyone has any insights they will be greatly appreciated! https://i.ibb....

Re: What sends noobs running back to Windows?

I think the amount of tinkering it sometimes takes to get basic stuff working after a fresh install that "just works" in Windows. At least for me. I installed Mint 19 on my main PC last night and as soon as I did I had graphical issues (it wasn't using the Nvidia driver) and sound was coming out of ...

Re: Well I give up

I'm 85 and she's still kicking. I walk with a cane and she never fails to assert, "ladies before cripples!" <SNERK!> Ye Gods and little fishes. Mine's 96! (When I take her out for a ride I tell people, "Hey look! I took my antique out today!" lol - mothers :) I was out with her shopping one d...

Re: Well I give up

TBH distro hopping is just plain exhausting and having to figure out quirks on a new system and constant tweaking is more annoying than "fun". I think it comes down to one's idea of fun. I enjoy tinkering with linux OSen and learning new things. I blame my mother for that. One day, in my young, imp...

New user (again)

Hi all. I took a Linux class back in '05 as a part of my degree and ever since then, I've told myself that I was going to get proficient. I've had several false starts since then but I have been dedicated this time. One of the things I love about Linux (that I learned this morning) is the inxi comma...

Re: How to: Leave windows unchanged on laptop lid close?

[SOLVED] My question was solved with the following link: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=214890 Have you tried editing the logind.conf file? If not, this may be of some help. Head over to: sudo nano /etc/systemd/logind.conf and enter your password. Of course, nano can be replaced with y...
