Re: I suck at terminal
Ok you suck, but how much you need terminal? Sure some basic commands are needed a few times, but today almost everything can be done without terminal. On emergency cases you might need terminal more. But again emergency is emergency, it's not an every day need and for these you can find help on th...

Re: Easy or hard to install linux mint on the latitude 5410?
don't know about buggy as heck, but missing way to many things in repositories compared to mint 19.
as already stated though, just run a live version to test, but should install very easily.

Re: ivp6 to disable or not
yes, if your isp provides/supports it, use it. ipv6 seems to be hit and miss at times on most isp's from what i've read on other forums, as far as staying connected, so might want to keep an eye on that. i have native ipv6 here on charter spectrum and a 3.1 docsis modem and a fairly new and updated ...

Re: Goodness, what on earth did I do now??
maybe a dumb reply, but why didn't you just create the HnK/Hnk directory first and then simply cut and paste the mkv files into that directory? what you did is exactly why i try to avoid the command line, not to mention typing out all that crap is a pain compared to simply cutting and pasting. ya, i...

Re: Brain-dead move of the day
OUCH. At least you stopped it in time. I did something stupid many years ago, costing me 1TB of data, most of which was very important to me; I was crushed. Luckily, I had a decent amount backed up. The messed up thing, is that it was my inadvertently misusing the dd(1) command in order to ...

Re: Mint 20 with 4.15 kernel
This is just crazy. It's very probably totally and utterly unnecessary for the OP to want a 4.15.x kernel. Agree! I have many old computers running Linux Mint 20. The oldest one is 14 years old running Linux Mint 20 XFCE. I have many 10-11 year old computers running Linux Mint 20.0 and 20.1...

Re: Linux Mint 32bit on an old Laptop
I'm new here, where can i download a Linux Mint 32bit. Just to play around with my old Laptop which has an 32bit Processor? To be honest: Provided your statement about the 32-bit processor is true, then your hardware will be so old and so powerless, from today's perspective, that is unlikely that y...

Re: Waterfox showing Bookmarks yet when I select 'show all bookmarks', the page is blank?
how do have waterfox installed, or are you running the executable file within the downloaded waterfox folder? i have an issue where if i run the file from the folder, i can't do anything with bookmarks except import them. can't edit, remove or add bookmarks. in fact, have a topic on here from a whil...

Re: Having trouble remembering my bath.
Or if you live in a house, not a flat or bungalow - turn the tap on, take the laptop into the room underneath the bathroom and wait for the drips of water to start hitting your head. The flaw with that method is eventually the bath will fall through as the boards under it will rot. good one! LOL i'...

Re: RAM question.
YES - it's an educated guess .. for sure, but .. that's what it usually is, when some 'ram' goes missing. :) on on Desktop machine, the external video cable will go into the video port on the main motherboard, & whereas it's to an separate port, for an external video card.. non-intergrated card...

Re: [solved] updating waterfox to newest version
thanks for that reply. the problem i had using deb file was that i was never able to add, remove or edit bookmarks, so that was a no go for me, when adding it via hawkeye ppa, or what ever you call it, it functioned 100% correctly, so that's the route i had to go. sure hope installing the new versio...

Re: updating waterfox to newest version
just thought i'd add that no update to newest version yet on mint 19 or 20 :( You'd be better off complaining to the waterfox people, Mint has nothing to do with when the newest version comes out. Mint uses Ubuntu repos for app software, and ubuntu doesn't have anything to do with it either. yes, i...

Re: updating waterfox to newest version
Looking at that link, both installation methods involve using the apt packaging system. WHich means you're going to be notified of any available Linux waterfox updates. It doesn't matter if there's a new WIndows version and not a Linux ones yet. This happens all the time with the browsers I use, th...
