Re: Suspected worm on home network

Windows Loader.exe ..? I guess this isn't something you downloaded? .. As for physical access, I find it questionable that someone would "break in" and compromise your computer(s) without there being other "evidence" e.g. things having been moved or gone missing. I guess if this...

Re: Mini PCs?

i have a mini lenovo pc that was dual booting windows 10 and mint. worked perfectly fine, as it should. a mini pc is just a smaller version of a full sized desktop, so why shouldn't it work as long as installing on intel or amd hardware as already mentioned. ditched the windows garbage from it quite...

Re: Are Kernel Updates Really Necessary?

i install all updates as soon as they are in the update manager and have never had an issue. personally see no sense to blocking any updates. i do have timeshift setup and have only used it once and that was just to see how it worked.

i have 4 laptops here that are older than your system that run just fine and have never froze. i have upgraded memory to max allowed and installed ssd's in them all. my guess would be your issue is either memory, hard drive or possibly a heat issue, although that usually leads to a bsod more than ju...

if you quit using that laptop a couple years ago, it sounds like there isn't anything important on it, so why not just see if you can wipe and install newest mint on it instead of playing around with it?
