Re: Mint Cinnamon 19.1 And KDE Plasma 5.15.4

The Ubuntu Bionic repos have got 5.12.7 - so that's all you are going to get without adding additonal repos. You could attempt to add the KDE neon repo to a Mint install. Don't know how well that would work. Search Install Neon over Kubuntu for guidance. Or you could use a Distro that has the lates...

i was in the kde forums asking them about plasma 5.15.4 and mint cinnamon 19.1, and one member claims that plasma 5.12 id the highest for mint right now. i have to question his answer since he thought this is cosmic and not bionic. so to my question can 5.15.4 be used alongside cinnamon 19.1? please...

Re: Microsoft to improve Chromium

MS is replacing Edge with a browser built on Chromium. So this presumably means MS has realized Edge is not doing so well, and is basing the replacement on open-source code. This is actually good news as it's an indication of trust, from a prominent outfit, of FOSS and it makes me wonder whether MS...

Re: Breaking: Update Manager in 19.2 will no longer feature a protective level system

I want only to say that Mint will not have any formal competitive advantages after that. On my second disk I have already installed MX Linux which most probably will become the my production system. I want only to say that Mint will not have any formal competitive advantages after that. Well, there...

agree 1,000,000% with "System protection against bad updates (rare, but not non-existent) will then rely entirely on making snapshots with Timeshift. Which I find unfortunate, because in my opinion prevention is better than curing.... Anyway: it's a fact. We'll have to live with that." there are ple...

Re: .deb Files Will Not Install

from what i'm seeing the other 3 methods work perfectly for opening and installing the deb files, just for some reason just leftclicking them and clicking install crashes the installer without any error message. the saving grace of the other methods is they seem to also grab and install any addition...

one of the reasons i settled on mint cinnamon was it's startmenu versus others startmenus. a lot of distros had ok starmenus then turned around an install what looks like crap to me.

Nice, but not for me.... My distro-hopping days are over. After all, Linux distro's share more than they differ. Their upstream components are usually rather the same: Linux kernel, systemd, Grub, desktop environments, Firefox, Chromium, LibreOffice, Thunderbird... They mostly only differ...

those *.deb files are just an archive - - so you can actually UN-pack them, with an with an archive manager, & thus check if they do have any errors. do you get any errors when you run that *.deb file in Terminal ? - - this method, is far more fun, as you do have to Type everything Exactly - or the...
