Re: KDE fonts are messed up
I had a .fonts.conf file already but things were still messed up. This solution worked solved the problems for me so I just wanted to add my thanks for posting this solution.

Re: Nvidia Driver 304.37 Installation
Well, this time it just worked! No fixes necessary. That's good news I suppose :) The only thing I did since re-installing the 295.40 version on Friday was to save settings to X configuration file from within the nvidia settings app. Maybe that made all the difference. Though on the other hand when ...

Re: Nvidia Driver 304.37 Installation
I have a gtx 460, with i5 760, 8GB RAM, OCZ Vertex3.
I'll have another go at updating the drivers now, just have to remember the command for nvidia-xconfig
Will report back soon!

Re: Nvidia Driver 304.37 Installation
Just wondering, did anyone had any issues with the latest driver installation? Until last Friday I was running my Mint 13 Cinnamon on the stock driver but since there was a new version from Nvidia I decided to install the proprietary driver instead and get ready for some weekend gaming! I wanted to ...

Re: Could we PLEASE get a true idea of release for UP3?
I'm happy to add that I had absolutely no issues with the latest updates (UP3). Everything installed very smoothly, even didn't have to reinstall anything nvidia, thanks to the fact there was an update to the drivers too. Also, some of the things I pointed out yesterday are no longer relevant. In pa...

Re: Could we PLEASE get a true idea of release for UP3?
I can see the discussion finished a week ago, but I found it today and it encouraged me to add my two cents (even though what I'm going to write spills beyond the scope of this thread). I've been thinking for a while of making my thoughts about the latest Linux Mint DE known, just couldn't get to it...

Thanks for a quick reply arjay. Does logging out and in reverse the settings in your case too? That is if you don't mind checking and possibly having to set everything again...

Re: [SOLVED] mint 10 kde flaky or what?
I have very similar problems reoccurring and very frustrating. Here is what happens (but shouldn't): 1. German on login screen. 2. Login screen theme reset. 3. Auto-login disabled. 4. Font settings reset. 5. Colour theme settings reset. 6. Single click reset to double click. I thought I had this one...

Re: Mint9 super slow, help!
Hi guys!
Not sure how useful my input here will be, but here it comes. I have experienced similar slow downs with the latest ubuntu as well as Mint 9. I have a radeon x1950 pro PCI-E. So it's not AGP only, sorry. For me the problem is fixed as soon as I turned off desktop effects.
cheers

Re: KDE 4.4 on the way
I upgraded to kde 4.4 from the kubuntu backports today and now I get graphics corruption every time I start the system. There's basically no desktop, just a patchwork of different colours. After searching different forums seems like it's pretty common and one of the fixes is to press the combination...

Re: 5.1 surround; gtk looks
Just to summarize this thread I thought I would write how I finally solved my issues with KDE. I settled down with Gloria Main + mint-meta-kde on top (I use KDE as the main desktop now). Just that fixes the problem with font sizes in gtk apps run as sudo. I obviously can play stereo files over 5.1 s...

Re: 5.1 surround; gtk looks
Thanks again for your help! I did a reboot, but unfortunately it didn't change anything. I also installed gtk-qt-engine to see how the settings look there. They look as they should, so I started systemsettings as root. I got some error messages. I tried with Qt 4 Settings both as desktop user and as...

Re: 5.1 surround; gtk looks
Thanks for that richyrich! There is actually a file called .gtkrc-2.0-kde4 in the /root folder, but I created one called .gtkrc-2.0. Both have the same contents. Anyway, the file specifies only the theme to use. What I want to achieve is that the fonts used in Synaptic and other gtk apps run as root...

Re: 5.1 surround; gtk looks
I sort of solved the issues above by installing mint-meta-kde into my main Gloria installation. Everything went smoothly, except a few start-up processes (nm-applet for example). I also had to play around a bit to get compiz running as it should, but that required just to install emerald. Anyway, no...

5.1 surround; gtk looks
Hello! I installed Gloria KDE a couple of days ago and I simply love it. It's not only that it looks beautiful, it also works smoothly and reliably. There are only 2 things I can't figure out: 1. how to get stereo files to play on all speakers of my 5.1 surround system. If I have 5.1 sources it work...

Re: OPENSOURCE ADOBE FLEX 3 INSTALL
My response comes somewhat late, but I have been messing around with Flex myself lately. I wrote a guide on building flex apps using Komodo Edit and Flex SDK at http://blog.rootkowski.com/get-started- ... -on-linux/. Hope it helps

Thanx a lot cdproject! Your solution worked miracles. After getting the .inf file into ndisgtk it took maybe 30 seconds to be up and running (the most difficult part was to enter the password
).
Again, thanx a lot!

Re: no full 5.1 solved
Yeah, the mute button is tricky. I don't have it working the way I'd like it either. When I press mute only the front speakers are muted. About scrolling, works fine for me. Are you sure that when you double click on the volume icon the chosen device is playback: alsa pcm on surround51:0(nvidia ck80...
