SWAP issue: Computer won't boot past manufacturer splash screen unless I press F1

I just did this: ~$ swapon --show which returned this: NAME TYPE SIZE USED PRIO /dev/dm-0 partition 2G 0B -2 What steps d...

Re: [FIX] no swap on fresh LM19 install with home directory encryption

I am having this very issue. I did the fix, and here's the readout of how it went: :~$ sudo sed -i 's#/target##' /etc/crypttab [sudo] password for username ~$ sudo sed -i '#^/swapfile#d' /etc/fstab ~$ udo update-initramfs -u Command 'udo' not found, but can be installed with: sudo apt install udo ~$...

Here's what happened: The computer re-started, then went to the boot screen allowing me to choose Linux Mint 19 (first option on that screen), followed by Advanced Options Generic, Linux Min...

Computer Restart leads to busybox (ash) screen

This happened to me before yesterday and I never found the problem or the fix. I'm no expert, and need my computer to work.

The screen just says (initramfa)

What do I do?

Re: Using Cygwin to do Checksum of ISO

Joe and all,

I want to say thank you so much for the help! I know I'm clueless, and I understand if I frustrated any of you. You were all great! I downloaded HashCheck Install and bam! Checksums match! Ran Linux Mint 19 from my disc that I burned after the download, and it's absolutely beautiful!

Hi Falling_Stars, What version of MS Windows are you using? Have you used the MS Windows file manager to right-click the Linux Mint .iso file to see if there is already an available option to verify, checksum, hash check a file option? Re: New to Linux, Help a Lady Out?

I understand that. I just don't know HOW to verify the hash file. I followed the directions about creating a new folder, placing the iso file in there with twi txt files from this page: https://linuxmint.com/verify.php Now, I actually have to do the procedure to verify the hash. I went to the window...

Using Cygwin to do Checksum of ISO (Solved)

I downloaded linuxmint-19-xfce-64bit-v2.iso

I downloaded Cygwin to do the checksum verification to ensure there's no malware. How do I do the checksum? I have no clue what I'm doing.

Re: New to Linux, Help a Lady Out?

How do I generate the SHA256 sum for my .iso image now that it's finally downloaded? I downloaded both of the txt files (sha256sum.txt) and
(sha256sum.txt.gpg) and placed them in the same folder (directory) as the .iso
