Re: Firefox won't launch in Mint 10 KDE

Looks like I fixed my problem. Appears to be some kind of permission issue with /home/[user]/.mozilla. Renamed /home/[user]/.mozilla, launched FF and it worked. New .mozilla folder was created.

Firefox won't launch in Mint 10 KDE (solved)

Clean install of Mint 10 KDE. Firefox will not launch. Shows up in the task bar for about a minute, then disappears. Never see a window. Downloaded FF4, but same issue. Got the following when attempting to launch from the command line: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/firefox-4.0.1/...

Re: Google Chrome/Chromium crashes on startup

Same problems. Chrome and Chromium are very unstable. Also, neither load a page when launched from another app e.g. debugging from Eclipse.

Re: Un-mount a second harddrive

I can't give you an exact solution, but I think it has something to do with the Master Boot Record (MBR) i.e. which hard drive it is located on, did it get overwritten or corrupted, etc. If the MBR is missing or corrupted, it is easy to fix. Google some of this and see what you can find until someon...

Re: Instalation problems

Agreed. I am not an expert, but I think the specs on those pc's are too low. Mint does not require nearly as much as MS Vista or Win7, but it still needs something to work with. There's probably a guru in this forum who knows some tricks to make it work, though.

Re: Start the name suggestions for Mint 9 LTS

I find names confusing, too. Names are good for internal use prior to a release because release numbers can change over the course of a long project. But after a release, names are meaningless. I have no idea what version people are talking about when they use names. While It certainly helps that th...

Mint is still the best

I have been using Mint for about a year now, and can honestly say it is STILL the best. Periodically, I download other linux distros to try them out and keep up with what's going on. I really thought the other distros would have caught up by now. I'm a long time Windows user looking for a new home. ...

Re: Linux Mint Brainstorm

That is partially true, but Brainstorm offers a number of features the forum can't provide a. It quantifies the suggested solutions to each idea, bringing to light the best solutions which make it easier for developers b. It displays the most popular ideas, something which this forum cannot do c. I...

Re: Copyin' files from Windows share

Could it be a bug with the progress bar? I've noticed that the progress bar is not working when I copy files from my windows share. It may not be working at all. I just noticed it when I was copying a 3.5 GB file from my windows share.

Re: Promotional material

The problem with these things is that someone has to pay to have these items made, keep inventory, reorder stock as needed, etc. I have no doubt they would make their money back plus a profit. Does Linux Mint have money in the budget to create the items and sell them in an online store? I suggest u...

Re: Promotional material

I agree we need swag e.g. shirts, hats, stickers, coffee mugs, etc. Things you can were or use at the office or school that spark conversations like, "what's linux mint?" whereby you can say, "well let me tell you all about it!" The problem with these things is that someone has to pay to have these ...
