JeremyB:
OK I shall leave it as it is then :)

Many thanks indeed for the help, I really appreciate it and I do know not to touch the WI-Fi any-more if it's working.

Cheers for that JeremyB.

Re: Broadcom BCM43224 - 14e4:4353

JeremyB: I ran the first command you pasted for me and rebooted and the WI-Fi suddenly appeared once more so I haven't ran the second command yet and am awaiting to see what you say about if it will be OK to do so. Is there a slider on one of the Network Manager GUI's to enable wifi? No, I couldn't ...

Broadcom BCM43224 - 14e4:4353 - SOLVED!

Hello, I'm on Mint 17.3 Mate and I inadvertently stopped the WI-Fi on my Dell Vostro Laptop whilst I was using it, because the darned thing kept connecting to it instead of the eth0 which I wanted it to connect to at the time to sort out a problem with the router rather than the separate WI-Fi repea...

Re: Can you update from 9 to 13 in one leap? - SOLVED

Well just an update on this..... Did as suggested and left .mozilla and .thunderbird and deleted all the other hidden files, left all my info on there, after a major and I mean major backup. Then went for it. And after all my worries and if this if that I shouldn't have blinked twice, Mint didn't - ...

Re: Can you update from 9 to 13 in one leap?

remoulder OK thanks for that. After my lunch later on I will get stuck-in and see what needs to be done then. I think it's a case of getting my backups made first just in case - then disconnect the usb drive and all other internal drives except the one I'm going to install on to and then going for ...

Re: Can you update from 9 to 13 in one leap?

Just thought of a small glitch, what about the programs I have installed that I use often now I would have to re-install them after upgrading by making a backup of the list of files installed doing it this way, that's the only problem I can see chiefjim unless there is a work-about?

Cheers.

Re: Can you update from 9 to 13 in one leap?

chiefjim Yes they are separate partitions thanks.

'Routine' - I have my drive with mint 9 on it with 4 partitions - swap - / - home & usr/local. So I just format then / and re-install and all should be OK then?

Basically so long as I don't touch home or usr/local?

Re: No eth1 + no 'pewters talking to each other?

utsuwa I have eth0, (which is the on board network), and eth1, (the add-in card). I was under the impression that eth0 had to be static to be able to connect to it at any time? eth1 I wanted dhcp so that it served the rest of the network with the auto dhcp, that way I can disable the dhcp in the mo...
