Re: Wifi not working on my HP Laptop

Hello linux4mint, I've found a thread in the german linux forum with exactly the same problem like yours. There would be a way to unblock the Ralink card with masking a specific pin on the card. There is a picture shown in this thread. But to get an USB wifi running, you have to blacklist the rt280...

Re: Wifi not working on my HP Laptop

Hello linux4mint, your wifi card seems to be a problematical case also in earlier versions of Ubuntu/Linux. Until Ubuntu 16.04 there was the solution to take another driver (rt3290sta) instead. But I don't know, if it would work now, because I found only solutions until Kernel 4.4. Maybe there is s...

Re: Wifi not working on my HP Laptop

Did you try what HAWR suggested: 'I've seen a case with a hard blocked wifi, where the solution was to shutdown the laptop, remove the power cable, remove the battery, wait about 10 minutes and start again." You might also try holding the power button down for a minute before you start again. Dear ...

Does 'rfkill list all' still say hard blocked? Maybe it's unblocked now & there's a different problem?
The output is
$ rfkill list all
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: yes

Thanks

It wouldn't hurt to try:

Code: Select all

 rfkill unblock all
Or

Code: Select all

 rfkill unblock wifi
Thanks for your reply.....
Already used these commands...
Nothing happened..

Thanks

Re: Wifi not working on my HP Laptop

Hello linux4mint, did the wifi worked, when you've tested it in the live system before installing Linux Mint? Did it work directly after the installation? I ask because of a possible problem with the 5.3 kernels. I've seen a case with a hard blocked wifi, where the solution was to shutdown the lapt...

Re: Wifi not working on my HP Laptop

Hi HAWR, do you have a dual boot with Windows 10? If yes, it is possible, that Windows holds the wifi in an unclear state, so it isn't accessible in Linux. You should try disable "Fast Startup" in Windows: Already disabled the same in my Windows OS. another thing i have marked in my Linux Mint os is...

Re: Wifi not working on my HP Laptop

Dear HAWR Thanks for your reply it is a hard block. When I've found the right manual, you have a wireless key at F12 or around with the typical wireless sign. Please try for example Fn+F12 (or the key with the wireless sign) to enable Already tried , but nothing happend.. the strange part is, the wi...

There is a way to view the CUPS log from its console. Open a browser and try the following URL.

http://localhost:631/admin

If it requires ID and password, use your user name and password.
Sorry,. Checked the log but not understood anything

Re: Router Print Server

I just ran the same test from a Mint 19 Live-Flash drive on one of my test systems. I have an Epson WF-2760 using ipp in my local network. The printer was automatically detected and installed at boot. I launched the Printers app and printed a test page, no problem. That's a pretty good indication t...

Re: Router Print Server

Would you consider trying a Live CD/Flash test with Mint 19 (not 19.1) to see if the problem is simply tied to old Ubuntu 14.04/Mint 17.2? If you do try that test, I'm curious if the printer automatically is detected and installs. Thanks for your reply As advised by you today i have tried the same ...
