Than you have to login everytime after you close the folders, bummer.

The folders show up on the left side when I open them , my question is... When I close those folders does it close my connection to the server?

Question, once I close all of the open folders it seams to log of the server, is that normal, is there a way to keep the server connection open?

Since I am planing to be the only one on the system, permissions would not be an issue and I only modify the files on my MEGAsync file. Thanks for the help to both of you. Now I can get back to my other issues.

Found the problem, I had the sharing option set for 'Allow others to modify...' , when I set the access to Guest on the other machine I can see the files in the folder. :oops:

OK, I can see the other computers shared folders but when I try to open them I get that "Password required for share...". it has two options, Anonymous which has everything grayed out except the connect button and Registered User. When I select that, it gives me the other options on the display and ...

OK, I am seeing the other computer folders

but obviously we are using different desktops because my display is quite different from your picture. When I get connected and try to open a shared folder I get the following drop down.

OK, I see a Windows Network on both my desktop and laptop but when I try to open either one I get the 'Unable to mount location' error on both machines. Hope you guys have some more ideas.

Well I must have fat-fingered something on my laptop when I input the whitelist ports because it can't get on the internet. My desktops work fine to access the internet. Please bear with me, as soon as I solve my laptop issue I will be back to resolve the LAN issue. Thanks.

Sorry about not responding sooner but right after your last post Spectrum lost my internet connection until just now. I will try your recommendations after I do my chores here.

Yes I have Nordvpn on all my systems including cell phones. I don't like disabling my firewall completely, is there another way?

OK, set the firewall to allow samba, pinged both other machines, 100% packet loss.
Next idea.

I just checked the IP addresses of my two closest machines and they are Gunter-Desktop-1 = 192.168.0.115 Gunter-Laptop = 192.168.0 3 Tried to ping each from the other, no luck, 100% packet loss. Sorry that I haven't gotten back to you guys but we have been packing, have to go to one of our nieces wedding next week and it is "FORMAL" meaning tux etc.. I connected my laptop directly to the router via ethernet, some results it comes up

OK altair4, I pinged and the machines are not on the same network, so far so good. Now how do I set up a network where the machines recognize each other. I understand about sharing individual folders but if I can't see the other machines that is useless. Everybody who has been contributing to solvin...
