Re: Tesla and Autopilot crashes...

N.B. I've never driven an automatic, by the way. Wouldn't know what to do with my left foot or be able to change gear when I want. As a driver, I want to be in FULL control of the vehicle at all times. The problem is those who drive auto don't know how to. Have you ever smelled cars that have come ...

Re: Can all Linux computers still be hacked in 10 seconds via "mousejacking"?

Looks like I put this under tangled mice instead of here. OK, entanglement... "wireless mouses, which can be hijacked from a distance of 250 feet (80-90metres) within 10 seconds." OK, with a WiFi router and problems getting connection because of walls and such like getting in the way and having to g...

Re: I do NOT miss winduhs!!

Certainly drifted off thread, however... that's what makes life interesting... The irony of it is, this men trades, women typing, I'll often get asked how to use a computer, "Because the wife does all the computing / internet to talk to the kids / grandchildren". These are retired men asking, who ha...

Re: Who can help where to find a wired mouse, which cord doesnt get entangled?

Entanglement rate equals the square of the length of cable times the age of the user
En = L2 x Ua L2 = square of length, Ua = age of user

If there are other cables around, times the number of those to the third power. Unfortunately I study this every day.....

Re: I do NOT miss winduhs!!

It's incredible how you get attacked from all sides when you risk making a quite neutral remark upon the historical difference between genres. I apologise if it sounds like an attack. Probably more "where were you?" In the right place / area things will be different. If only in business and possibl...

Re: I do NOT miss winduhs!!

When I was in high school they had typing for girls. Boys had other manly things to study. It took me almost forever hunting and pecking to write this post. That's weird if you think about it: for many years following that era, computer use/programming has been a man-only activity. In the early 90s...

How about this review? I've copied a couple of quotes. Re: How can I stop Chrome asking for me to unlock the keyring?

Every time I start a new session Google-Chrome asks me for the keyring. How can I avoid this? A bit of a curse however it is possible. Try - https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=208893 or rm ~/.local/share/keyrings/* Now open Chrome, if it asks you for your password, do not enter one choose...
MS has been hard to figure out lately. They are dropping and changing things like their music service, mobile OS, and you can upgrade any Windows version to Windows 10 at this point for free. Their focus seems to be on services now.
You mean a bit like "The Green Fields of France" ....

the second refers to the Men's Shed where there are a lot of computers running Linux Mint. I'd never heard of those. Will have to look in to it & see if there are any in my area; however they would be better named as "Mens' Workshops" as the term "shed" is usually used here to refer to a storage bu...

As it has a bit of a story, I'll explain. My usual pseudonym is the sea kayak design I paddle. This time a little different. The first bit is part of the name of the town where I am and the second refers to the Men's Shed where there are a lot of computers running Linux Mint. We load Linux Mint on t...

Re: Hello from Barcelona

I see Dukto suggested for file transfer. I can thoroughly recommend it. It certainly works on Windows and (to) Linux and as far as I know, a Mac version too. To do it off line if wanted, use an old modem, plug both computers in and start the programme on both machines. The From machine sees the To m...

Re: Why does Linux Mint not work, on this one machine ?

I think gm10 has the answer. I actually, if one analyses it, told half the story, sorry, I apologise. The machine had been used for Windows security camera software checking and I suspect that is where the umpteen GB of disk has gone and got locked. It would certainly be a logical answer. So thanks ...
