Re: Lexmark CX-417de Scanner Not Recognised

Did you look in /usr/local/lexmark/unix_scan_drivers/lib/sane?

Re: HP Laserjet P1102w

Thanks a lot for your reply. I really appreciate your help. Ok, here we go: ls /usr/lib/cups/filter hpcups Fine. Please consider using this filter by adjusting the lpadmin command below. Note there is no pdftoraster filter present in the list. This means you can not set up a driverless print queue....

Re: HP Laserjet P1102w

i have been using this printer after initial installation of the OS without any trouble. Then i did not use it for quite a while. When i tried to, it didn't work. So i followed different threads on different forums, where people had quite similar problems. In some forum i read, that if an hp printe...

Re: HP Laserjet P1102w

Hi, i somehow messed up the printer installation on mint 18.3 cinnamon. The initial problem was, that the printer was no longer recognized after installation of the latest run script. No matter what i did, the hp-setup gui was not able to discover my printer. But the printer ...... "latest run scri...

Re: Get Samsung c460 printer to scan - no scanner detected

IMINOW has gone strangely quiet. Maybe he has figured out how to install the needed drivers?

Re: Get Samsung c460 printer to scan - no scanner detected

@BrianP I have tested it for my LM 19.1 Cinnamon and my old USB-Brother-MFC without both group memberships and can say for myself, it works without it (tested with simple scan, xsane and LO writer, even with login/logout and reboot). My result is certainly not universally valid, but I thank you for...

Re: Get Samsung c460 printer to scan - no scanner detected

@BrianP I hate to say this, but that is inappropriate advice; I have seen it given a few times recently. It is about time it was relegated to the refuse container of history. This may not be up to date anymore, but it is listed on some Ubuntu help pages regarding troubleshooting, necessarities and/...

Re: Get Samsung c460 printer to scan - no scanner detected

That link IS accessible because I downloaded the drivers for the samsung printer http://www.samsungdrivers.net/samsung-c460fw-driver/ Correct. It will give IMINOW the Unified Linux Driver (ULD). It is what he needs to install. Mind you, having installed it, he will still be unable to scan. first yo...

Re: Lexmark CX-417de Scanner Not Recognised

The Lexmark package puts its scanner drivers /usr/lib/sane. This should be ok, but there is a bug in Mint's libsane that causes it not to look there. See

Re: Matching drivers to an Epson XP-6105 scanner/printer

Thank you, brian_p for what would be a nice solution, but you underestimate my ignorance and timidity. I wouldn't know where to start or how to proceed from the welter of prose on your link. In the interests of brevity: Edit saned.conf on the server (the machine which has the scanner attached). Edi...

Re: Matching drivers to an Epson XP-6105 scanner/printer

Just to make sure the new device is not faulty, I resorted to a USB connection and the scanner is recognised. This, however, is not the desired configuration as the device is required to work on two PCs, in different rooms. Previously I had the scanner/printer on my PC and my partner had to email m...

Re: Huge issue with CUPSD : high CPU usage with lot of printers !

Instead of removing cups-browsed, turn it off so it doesn't do auto discovery: sudo systemctl mask cups-browsed The OP claims What can I do in the meantime, if I uninstall cups-browsed, I cannot use network printers, that's another issue You can still install and use network printers, I do. Indeed....

Re: Huge issue with CUPSD : high CPU usage with lot of printers !

I did post an issue, thanks for the advice. But I'm realistic : it won't be solved in the close future... Bugs and problems tend to get sorted out (one way or another) when a user engages with the process. Leaving a bug report to languish without participation is one way of postponing any solution.

Re: Printer Issue

Why the obsession with drivers for this printer? Doesn't the Printers App offer a driverless (recommended) option? Or there is https://wiki.debian.org/QuickPrintQueuesCUPS PS. If the scanner doesn't work, then it might be because of this bug, for which there are workarounds: https://bugs.launchpad.n...
