I sympathise, but this printer was barely supported by Linux in the first place. Try asking Canon for a Linux drive. It is their printer after all.

Do a search on Google with "Canon LBP-800 openprinting". It took me three minutes to decide that life is too short to mess with a 20+ year old printer.
