Sound card, wil they work?

I would like to install a sound card in my computer, however the people on Amazon seem to think you can't in Linux Mint. Is this correct? The card I would like to use is the audology 5.1 by Sound Blaster. I know very little about sound cards! Any Help? changeling@changeling-MS-7640 ~ $ inxi -Fxxxrz ...

Re: Firefox not playing Amazon Prime video

Well. that was quick. Problem solved now so Amazon must have done something. I have the same problem and it will soon stop working altogether. When you click on a movie to watch up will pop a note that says "UNAVAILABLE". I run Firefox and from what I can figure out they don't like LINUX anything a...

Re: Bookmarks backup aoftware

Hi Upton, Are you referring to browser bookmarks or file manager bookmarks? It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run " inxi -Fxzd " and " lsusb " from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information. I'm...

Does anyone have a routine for backing up ones bookmarks (18.3) and loading them back to a new version of Mint (19.2)?

<SOLVED>New Kernels

A couple of times now I have received notices of a new kernel available but when you look at them in "Update" the old and new are exactly the same so why should one update if they are the same evidently with no changes :?

Re: Very few updates ?

gm10: If I black listed them I didn't know it. OK, I'll just leave it as is and not worry about it.

Cliff Coggin: I used to run Ubuntu and had more updates then that.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid or having windows flash back, LOL.

Very few updates ?

First off I am getting updates 1 to 3 a week but this seems like very few to me (Mint 18.3). Just wondering if this is what others are also getting? There is also something "Black List" that has the following in it. I don't know what they are: linux - kernel- generic, mesa, ndiswrapper, ubuntu - dri...

Re: Installed 18.3, unsure about updates.

I think I just figured out (so my brain doesn't hurt.) The OP must have a 4.10 kernel still installed, but not active. I always keep my kernels cleaned up so I don't get offered that update. I'm still on 18.3 as well. You can use: sudo purge-old-kernels If that utility isn't installed, then install...

Re: Installed 18.3, unsure about updates.

I know what kernel I am using, look at the 1st paragraph in this post (above), Thanks. I am running dual operating systems Ubuntu and Mint, I believe what is confusing me is the update manager lists updates with the Ubuntu name so I don't know if they are right or wrong ! Why can't Mint put their na...
