Re: Confused about dnsmasq 2.79 update
Kadaitcha Man, I updated, and everything's fine. I logged out, just to be sure, then logged back in, and Internet connections are fine, and also on Windows end. Thanks again. I'm good here, and thanks again for the laugh. I'm going to send that thing about the aliens to a friend of mine in Canada. H...

Re: Confused about dnsmasq 2.79 update
Kadaitcha Man, Thanks for the reassurance. I feel a lot better, and I do have a Smartphone so that's taken care of too. Thanks also for my laugh of the day. That was hysterical, especially about aliens turning people into a cross between a "sausage dog and a pussy cat and force me to eat dry ki...

Confused about dnsmasq 2.79 update
I don't know if anyone can help me, but is the dnsmasq update safe to install. I only have one computer, not a network, and I'm still not sure what it does. I did hear in one of the Facebook groups about Linux Mint that when someone installd it they lost their Internet connection. Is that a common p...

Re: Webcamoid doesn't work on Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon (64bits)
I tried the AppImage, but it keeps repeating the image to the vanishing point, even with that. Is there something I'm missing. I'm using LInux MInt 19.3, Cinnamon"Tricia", /Windows 7 Professional (dual-booting)and HP Compaq 6000 Pro Microtower with 16 GB Memory, Intel Core 2 Duo e8400 runn...

Re: Newbie to backing up files
I've heard of Back in Time, but I didn't know I could back up Windows files too (which are pointed to my Seagate External Drive), once mounted. That's interesting. And this will back up all folders and subfolders? I"m willing to give it a shot. ;) As far as my system, I already use Timeshift, w...

Newbie to backing up files
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I need to back up my files, but I'm not sure which is the better software-Deja Dup or Lucky Backup. I have a dual-boot system with Windows 7 Professional one one Disk-my original disk, and LInux Mint, our main driver on our SSD drive. I also have an external ...

Re: Confused about KeepassXC Master Password
OK, thanks, Kester, that actually makes the most sense, lol. That's something I usually do anyway, as some of our accounts are shared, that is the both of us. Thanks for mentioning it. Two it is. ;) Thanks to both you and Adam for your help and input. Have a great day and hope all are well in your h...

Re: Confused about KeepassXC Master Password
For me, I just want the passwords for my husband's account, so he can access them, so dual accounts is probably better. We have one computer, but two user accounts. Some of our accounts are joint, but there's a lot of accounts that are for me or my husband, but not both. We've been using LastPass, b...

Confused about Grub 2 update in Update Manager(solved)
I'm still really new, and I got an announcement that there's an update for Grub(Grub2(Grand Unified Bootloader version 2(dummy package). It says it's a dummy transitional package to handle Grub 2 upgrades. It can be safely removed". I have Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.3 (Tricia), installed on my SSD ...

Confused about KeepassXC Master Password (Solved)
I'm a little confused here about KeepassXC's assigning the master password. I have Linux MInt 19.3 installed on an SSD (Bare metal, finally!), and am interested in using KeepassXC, but I wasn't exactly sure how to go about setting up the password. There are 2 users, myself and my husband. Do I use t...

Re: Installing on an SSD
Any enlightenment. I didn't see the BX500 either, but if it works, sweet!l But more than a little confused here. It works, presumably because Crucial is a branch of Micron. I still prefer the Barracuda 120 SSD. Software is made for Linux and it works good. The TRIM once a week in 10 seconds is very...

Re: Installing on an SSD
If you want a Crucial the MX500 good and so is the BX500. For software you can use Micron's Storage Executive because there's a GUI version and a Command line version for Linux. Micron's version works good with either of those, If you did decide on Crucial, I can provide a bit of help installing th...

I hope I'm not "hijacking a post" I think you are. but the moderators will decide that, not me. Perhaps you should read the forum rules. Sorry about that. I'll do better next time. :( I'll recheck the forum rules. On the upside, this thread answered my questions as to what and how, and an...

Re: Installing on an SSD
I don't know if this is an answer or not, but I thought that Crucial's (and Samsungs, and most SSD manufacturer's managing software for just for Windows and Mac. Is this true or is there something for Linux? I ask because I'm wobbling between Samsung (if I can find a good price at Amazon for 2 TB) a...

Re: Confused about installing Seamonkey instructions
Thanks. Looks good then. I know I wasn't getting getting errors in my last update, so I suspected it was cleared up. Thanks to you and the others for all the help. Then I'll mark this as solved. A very happy camper here. Good luck with the KIngston. Let me know how it works out. :) Have a great day!...

Re: Confused about installing Seamonkey instructions
OK. I think I got it. I ran it in terminal and found the repeat so took out the last command and got the warning like you said, then ran apt update and this is what I got: maghdalena@maghdalena-VirtualBox:~$ xed admin:///etc/apt/sources.list ** (xed:5119): WARNING **: 23:00:16.457: The specified loc...

Re: Confused about installing Seamonkey instructions
OK, newbie here, but when you say run "xed admin:///etc/apt/sources.list", does that mean run the file or put that in Terminal or what? And how do you find it, through the search in the menu? Just so I'm clear here. :) Thanks so much for your patience. The erasing the bottom line is pretty...

Re: Confused about installing Seamonkey instructions
OK. I found it. It's listed that way in Mate too. Under the Internet category. I am so happy. I guess it took a little time or I had to restart Mint in the VM. That means that I can use Linux Mint instead of MX linux. I just know Mint more than MX, though both are good. What is that part about etc/a...
