Re: Whats everyone currently listening to?
Today I'm listening to The Cure, starting with Three Imaginary Boys (and will probably stop at Disintegration). Yesterday it was a mix of Thrice, Rival Schools, The Fall, Beastie Boys, random house music, and Little Richard.

Re: Browser/web app & Ctrl key
I ran the same app (SketchUp web/free) and it worked fine with both Chrome and Firefox.deepakdeshp wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 1:46 pmThere may be some problem with the ap? Though the chances of this are very negligible.

Browser/web app & Ctrl key
Any ideas why a browser-based app wouldn't detect that the Ctrl key is or has been pressed? The Ctrl key acts as a modifier when copying objects, but it's not working on this person's Mint 19.0 system. Works fine on my 19.1 setup, so I'm wondering if it's a key-mapping conflict.

Re: Clipped text on (application) menu
That's a deficiency in your Desktop theme in that the search entry box doesn't expand for scaled fonts. You can change this in your Themes GUI accessible from the menu. The stock Cinnamon theme suffers the issue. The stock alternatives Linux-Mint, Mint-Y and Mint-X should be OK. Thanks. Switching t...

Clipped text on (application) menu [SOLVED]
Has anyone noticed text getting clipped on the application menu? Any character with a descender (q,y,p) looks like it's cut off. Re: Isn't "newbie" a warning to new users?
My two cents on LM and printers: My Epson WF-2450 works better on Linux Mint (19.1) than it ever did on Windows 10. On Mint I get all the maintenance/status messages whereas I never did on Windows. Mint isn't my first Linux distro, either, I spent a year on Ubuntu (16.x and 18.x) and I find Mint to ...

Re: Basic CAD Drawing Program
Just FYI, running SketchUp (standalone client app) on a VM is not officially supported. As other folks have pointed out, though, it usually runs just fine.

I had a similar problem and here's how I fixed it. If you haven't already installed Pulse Audio Volume Control (PAVC), do so. After you install PAVC, install the Bluetooth module using this command: sudo apt-get install pulseaudio-module-bluetooth Pair your BT headphones or speaker. Launch Spotify (...

Check out SketchUp. There's a browser-based version, and a Windows desktop app that can be run in a VM.

[SOLVED] Backup Tool can't write to external HD
I've got an external (USB) HD and am having trouble with write access/permissions. Re: Timeshift: should these patterns be excluded in snapshots?
[Maybe it is, but the size of the image depends on the used space on the partition, it can be quite small (mine are normally between 3 and 15 GB). Do you have two free USB slots? One for the Clonezilla software, the other for the backup disk or flash card. I have a few free USB ports. I'll check th...
