Re: Is there a screensaver that can be activated manually?
Yes, that's what I've been doing, to prevent (or at least postpone) image burn-in on the monitor. I hope Mint/Cinnamon will implement this idea. 8/11/23 I'm going to leave this "un-solved" for a while to see if anyone in the Mint/Cinnamon builders group will notice.

Re: Is there a screensaver that can be activated manually?
That works great and is exactly what I wanted! - except that, in system settings, I have shut off the two buttons for locking the computer, yet when I come back and move the mouse, the screensaver still gives a prompt for the password. Is there a way to shut off the password prompt in the screensave...

solved on this venue, moved to Github - Is there a screensaver that can be activated manually?
When I step away from my computer, I'd like to be able to press a combination of keys which would immediately turn on the screen saver (such as cntrl-shift-s, although that probably already activates something else). Then when I come back, I would, as usual, move the mouse and it would disappear. Is...

solved how to configure screensaver
I don't know which screensaver is activated when I press ctrl-alt-L. The screensaver includes a prompt to enter my password to get back to the desktop. Is there any way to configure that screensaver (which one is it?) so I don't have to type the password?

solved allow move "close document" button to left with window buttons
It's nice to be able to move the window buttons (minimize, maximize, close) to the left on top (or on bottom). It would be nice if the "close document" button for a single open file would be moved also.

Re: VLC Video LAN no longer works
I installed the second option in Software Manager, "VLC (flatpak)" and it didn't work. I removed that, and installed the first option for VLC, and it still doesn't play the video. I had been using Win10, and VLC did play the video perfectly fine, but when I installed Linux Mint (erasing Wi...

VLC Video LAN no longer works
VLC Video LAN played DVDs I would get from the library. It was awesome. Then I had to reload Linux Mint from scratch, and now I have the newest version of VLC (3.0.17). The software opens with a page which is black in the area where the video would play. The image from the menu is displayed on a sec...

solved-ish - How to "Roll Back"
I have seen lots of advice to people that they should "roll back" to an earlier version of (kernel, cinnamon, etc.). How is this done? What is the procedure to roll back each various component? I guess this question would need an answer for each component.

high cpu and disk usage after updating cinnamon
A new version of Cinnamon was available, so I updated it. Now the disk drive runs constantly and the quad cpu is pre-occupied with something, so any application, even a system app like the update manager, or typing a character, will freeze until the cpu can pay attention to them. Is this a glitch in...

Re: Open Programs In Full Window
Kendoori, I think this will be exactly what I need! - except that, as a newbie, I don't know what utility is pictured in your example. It doesn't match the menu I get when I click on the "menu" icon in the lower left, and in that menu, I don't get an option to modify any shortcut. I guess ...

Solved - Make Sure That Programs Always Open In Full Window
I would like to launch Vivaldi in a full window every time. How can I make sure that will always happen? Currently, it doesn't matter if the program was in a full window or not - it always seems to open in a partial window. When I move the cursor to scroll with the slider bar, I am instead given the...

Re: PulseEffects - Are Separate Modules Available?
Thank you! It's awesome to have an equalizer available. Now, is there a way to get the equalizer to work without having to use the terminal to launch it? If I close the terminal, the equalizer closes too, and I can't find any way to access it otherwise. I'd like the equalizer to launch as one of the...

Re: UNSOLVABLE?: How To Stop The Computer From Telling Me It Can't Mount My Phone
I get the impression that there really is no way to get Linux to not comment when a device is plugged in. I like that the device appears on the desktop - that's wonderful. I wonder why there's no way to get Linux to not pop a dialog box up in the middle of what I'm doing. Maybe that could be a featu...

Solved - PulseAudio / PulseEffects - Are Separate Modules Available?
PulseEffects is a large program, with various modules that various people find useful. Is it possible to download and install just those modules that I want? Or, perhaps, is the equalizer available as a stand-alone application?

Re: How To Stop The Computer From Telling Me It Can't Mount My Phone
I would like the phone to be connected as a device when I plug it in to charge. It's a Samsung Galaxy S5. The phone doesn't give any message. When I plug it in, I use a data/charge cord. It DOES mount, because it shows up on the desktop and I can access it. Even so, Linux Mint always gives me the sa...

UNSOLVABLE?: How To Stop The Computer From Telling Me It Can't Mount My Phone
I already used (Preferred Programs / Removable Media) to shut off the message asking me what to do when I plug my phone into the computer. I would like to know if there is a way to get the computer to stop telling me that it can't mount the phone. I've included two cropped screen shots.
