Easy upgrading option in mint

hi,
Is it planned to support easier direct upgrading between major versions in mint? Currently only the point releases can be upgraded directly, wheareas Ubuntu also supports major version upgrades. Is this feature somewhere on the horizon to be supported later?

Battery charge/discharge cycles count

Hi, is there any tool/command for knowing how many charge/discharge cycles I have used for my battery? The "Power statistics" tool tells me that my battery is at 95% of design efficiency, but doesn't tell the discharge cycles used. I read somewhere that a battery can handle only about 500 cycles if ...

Re: Internet not working with "Home" profile in Firewall

Rules are pre-configured as
Incoming deny,
Outgoing allow.

But there are 3 profiles as home, office and public. All 3 have same rules as above

Re: Internet not working with "Home" profile in Firewall

No, I haven't added any rules. When I select home profile, internet stops working in all apps. When selected office or public profile then internet works.
Is there any difference between these 3 profiles? All have incoming deny and outgoing allow configured by default

Also do not judge your blame results based on first boot, but after a subsequent reboot
Yes, I checked blame output on next reboot. Still NetworkManager-wait-online.service is present even after disabling it on previous boot.

Re: Too long boot time

While installing Mint did you opt for LVM,? What output do you get with mount command? I don't remember about LVM while installing right now. Can't be sure :( The mount output is: ~$ mount sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,nosuid, nodev, noexec, relatime) proc on /proc type proc (rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,rel...

Re: Too long boot time

You can disable NetworkManager-wait-online.service. and disable lvm2-monitor.service IF you're not using LVM. I'm sorry but I dont quite know much about this services. NetworkManager-wait-online.service : Disabling this will not stop wifi/Lan networking correct? lvm2-monitor.service IF you're not u...

Too long boot time

Hi, I have recently set up dual boot of LM 19.1 cinnamon and win 10 by creating separate partitions. My boot time is a bit long i believe. The grub2 boot menu appears fairly quickly , but after selecting the mint entry, it takes a long time for the login window to appear. Takes even more time to loa...

Re: Install Virtualbox 6.0 in Mint 19.1

Also imported the previous win XP vhd file and XP resumed from earlier state :) Is the extension pack necessary? I have installed guest additions for full screen mode and networking etc....

[Solved] Install Virtualbox 6.0 in Mint 19.1

Hi,

How can I install VBox 6.0 in Mint 19.1? The repo only provides version 5.2. The Oracle site provides .deb installer but I dont want it since it wont update later.
Will the 6.0 version be aviable in repo soon?
