Re: Linux Replacement for MusicBee?

Truth be told, I'm debating on switching back to Windows 10. MusicBee is so much better than any thing Linux has, not to mention superior drivers for all hardware. I feel like Mint, Ubuntu, and all desktop distros are heavily under-developed compared to Windows. Windows is, however, so inferior abou...

Re: Can't use GPU inside Wine 4.0

Well, in my thinking, if the OS recognizes your GPU hardware like that, then Wine should be utilizing the proper driver software to make things work. I asked about a Wine frontend because many of them will make it a lot easier to setup hardware drivers just for this purpose. Nothing wrong with using...

Tablets Compatible with Mint 19

I am in the market for a tab that can run Linux Mint 19 (or any Linux, I suppose). The last time I tried this, I ran into a major problem. At the time, the tab I tried this on had a 32 bit UEFI firmware (even though the CPU was 64 bit) and I couldn't install Linux Mint or Ubuntu in the UEFI. This wa...

Agent Hotchner with a Mustache

For me fellow Criminal Minds fans, ever wondered what Hotch would look like with a 'stache? Or what Thomas Gibson is doing these days? Behold. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siG7ReY2_lY Let's face it though, he'll never be Hotch again. I'm very excited to see this guy in another show though. Though...

I'm going to el oh el if your SSD dies any time soon. I'll break a rib in hysterical laughter if I read a post from you later about a dead SSD.

Re: Can't use GPU inside Wine 4.0

I'm confused per your system info here:

Code: Select all

OpenGL: renderer: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 v: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 390.77
direct render: Yes
Just wondering, are you using Winetricks, POL, or a Wine frontend at all?

Re: Linux Replacement for MusicBee?

I'm sure if I play around with this more, I can very likely get MusicBee running within Wine. Tonight isn't the night, though, and I may venture into Clementine or Banshee.

Check out Clementine

After searching around some, Clementine has the most user satisfaction I've found. I am toying with it now. It still just doesn't feel like home, though. MusicBee is still home.

Linux Replacement for MusicBee?

I am very keen on MusicBee for Windows. A major problem I have is that MusicBee is not ported to Linux. What is a great media player similar to it? I imagine Linux's best media player likely struggles to compete, but what the users here listening to their music with?

Re: Inline Skaters Here?

Tee stop was one of the first things I learnt when skating. Those rubber stoppers are an accident waiting to happen. T stops even work on conventional skates. The only problem I ever saw with inline skates was the fact that they were not suited to rough surfaces. They fixed that later with bigger w...

Re: Inline Skaters Here?

I never use the rubber heel brake. I used it when I first began, but after learning to T-stop, I entirely removed it. I imagine you could stop/brake on ice skates the same, but I wouldn't know. I've had only one serious ankle injury since skating, and I never go out without a helmet and pads on. Thi...

Re: Inline Skaters Here?

This is the first time I've heard the name Mission. The skates I primarily use are Powerslides, with 110's. I absolutely love it. I started losing weight a while back ago, and the first thing I wanted to do once I was fit enough was get into skating. Its a great cardio, and I hope to be one day in l...

Re: GPU Recommendation (for VM passthrough)

If you current GPU does everything you need, keep it and don't upgrade. It should be easy to pass it through to the VM. I'm using a GTX 970 and it works fine. Graphics cards are still ridiculously expensive. If you decide to upgrade, I'd consider Nvidia as my experience has been better with Nvidia ...

Inline Skaters Here?

Granted, this is a forum dedicated to Linux Mint and all things related, so I feel obligated to apologize for starting a discussion about something so distant from Linux Mint, Linux in general, and all things we typically talk about here on the forum. Does anyone here skate? Particularity on inline ...

Re: Do I really need to encrypt home if I have full disk encryption?

Another scenario that comes to mind when encryption is a great idea is if you install your OS on a flash drive or external/portable hard drive. I have used Linux almost entirely on USB 2.0 flash drives, and while I never encrypted them, I would certainly recommend it if you carry the flash drive wit...

Re: Any Music Producers Here on Linux?

Another guitarist here, but know nothing about such things, so, like you, am interested. I'm interested in hearing from anyone who used Guitarix. I haven't toyed with it yet. I would love to replace the proprietary software I use with freeware/open source virtual amps and effects. I've experimented...

Any Music Producers Here on Linux?

I play guitar and use virtual amps and effects very extensively. Currently, my entire setup in based on Windows. I know about the Linux music world, but do we have anyone here who'd like to share their setup?
