Borg Calendar Feature Missing?
The Help section of the Borg Calendar I downloaded for my LM 19.1 system seems OK, but it mentions a feature for automatic backup of my data to a zip file. The Help suggests turning it on would be a good idea. It would also have been a good idea if Help mentioned where I could find it to turn it on....

Re: Stopped as the start with F12 - Boot Options
I don't recall tapping delete. I did not try F2. I'll try those if the problem reoccurs. Thanks! The system is legacy. I do know know the difference between the two, but I do recall that it falls under the legacy category in the boot menus.

(Solved) Stopped as the start with F12 - Boot Options
An unpleasant encounter! Not even a chance to reach my BIOS! Just DELL (my PC is a DELL) and in the top, right corner: F12 - Boot Options. I tried F12, but nothing changed. I powered down. Tried again. Same result. I disconnected my system box entirely. Quite disturbing because if I could not get fu...

Re: Closing the Browser for Security
I see! Clearing cookies and history each time would be an onerous chore because I visit the site several times a day. If I am to use a computer for business transactions, I have to have greater ease than that. From your reply, I shall have to rely on the security of the other website. My history and...

Closing the Browser for Security
A financial website I visit recommends that I close my browser (Firefox) after exiting his website to protect my data. My system is a desktop PC with Linux Mint 19.1 OC. Is there good reason to follow the website's advice? Is my system less secure if I simply logoff the website without closing my br...

(Solved) Backup HD Fully to external HD
Is there for Linux Mint 19.1 a backup I may download from my Software Manager that will make a full graphical user interface backup (not just a system backup) of my HD to an external HD ? Otherwise, I must use my faithful live Windows version of Macrium Reflect. I have removed Windows, and it seems ...

Application not found
A few times in the past, I have had the experience I am reporting now. I install an application offered by my software manager of Linux Mint 19.1, this time "backuppc". The installation completes with no error displayed, but there is no launch button. I search for the app in my menu/applic...

Re: Is there a table of the recent distros of Linux Mint?
I find all the replies helpful, clarifying. My desktop is old, my printer is old. I'll wait for 2025 - if I last that long
Thanks!

Thanks!

(Solved) Is there a table of the recent distros of Linux Mint?
A table showing the advantages of upgrading from earlier distros of Linux Mint to the most recent would be highly desirable, I should think. I have LM 19.1. I have no idea how important upgrading is for someone who updates his system regularly. When I installed LM 19.1, I did so with the understandi...

(Solved) Webcam Part Purpose Unknonwn
Recently I bought an inexpensive webcam that came with no instructions. It works well enough for what it is. A curiosity: threaded into the back of the plastic housing that holds the camera is a steel rod, about 4 inches long with a small steel ball on its end. It looks like it might be a handle, bu...

Re: A problem with PulseEffects ?
McEen: Good AM! In my Skype, the statement is more like, "Automatically adjust microphone settings". I have always had it checked. If unchecked, there is no slide bar or other means I can see for a manual adjustment. It's not much of a choice! Mikeflan: The problem with the program PulseEf...

Re: A problem with PulseEffects ?
mikeflan: I timeshift-ed back to 1-20-21. My microphone is working. I do not feel secure about its reliability, but at least it works for the moment. If this is a fix, what am I to make of updating? Shall I avoid updating in the future? What would the consequences of that be? Thanks, by the way! Tha...

Re: A problem with PulseEffects ?
MrEen: Please read PulseEffects instead of pulseaudio. I have no program called pulseaudio. My problems seem to involve Skype, PulseEffects, and my microphone. I am sorry, I confused matters by bringing in the term pulseaudio from nowhere! My issue is not to use a new headset; just the earbuds and t...

MrEen: Your offer of help is appreciated. I followed your instructions. The last line produced was:

I went to the URL, but from the appearances I think you meant to look at it yourself. What do you learn from it?

(Solved) A problem with PulseEffects ?
I tried using PulseEffects in order to adjust to new headphones and microphone. I have since had nothing but trouble. Clearly, I am doing something incorrectly. I had since gone back to my ear buds and my small hand-held microphone, but I cannot get my Skype to work reliably in my Linux Mint 19.1 sy...

Re: LibreOffice Writer
Yes, LO was close after copying the needed password from the file, because I closed the file. I expected that the copy would go to an OS clipboard so that the data might be transferred to any other location that recognizes the characters. That would seem to be the most flexible sort of clipboard. LO...

Re: LibreOffice Writer
Regrettably, I have had to remove "Solved", because I find the use of the mouse does not succeed consistently. I just tried with the mouse in the boxes copying and pasting a password from a desktop file to a Firefox website, using right-click. It did not work. CTRL-C, -V does not work eith...
