Re: Burning a RW CD ROM in LM 19.1 64-bit cinnamon

To athi: My title line states LM (Linux Mint) 19.1 64-bit cinnamon. Is their more identification than that? I have installed K3b only to receive a notification that it would require an additional package to handle MP3 files. I went to the forum and found instructions to install the additions from my...

Burning a RW CD ROM in LM 19.1 64-bit cinnamon (Solved)

To begin, I am a newbie using LM in a dual boot on my Dell Inspiron 660s desktop. A recommendation for CD burning software with a special feature is my quest. I wish to produce audio CDs with a large number of songs of size less than 3 MB each, about 200 of them. That is a large number to record in ...

Re: Export LM Bookmarks to Windows7

The only file I can export is not a HTML file or other that I can use in Windows 7. It is a josn type file for backup. There is a backup choice that produces the josn file, but there is no export choice in LM's Firefox. How do I create a file, such as an HTML file that I can export to a memory stick...

Re: Can a song be added to a used CD-RW disc?

MrEen: Yes, we share the same view, but I hate possibly to waste a disc in order to determine if I may manually finalize or manually not finalize at my choice. THAT is the question! I am using an RW type CD. Thanks for the reading material. Keeps me away from naughty sights on naught sites.

Can a song be added to a used CD-RW disc?

Can songs be added to the content of a used CD-RW disc that is only partially filled ?

I don't want to re-write the entire disc; only to add songs to a CD-RW from time to time while keeping the songs already recorded on the disc.

Re: A replacement for Skype on Linux Mint cinnamon, please.

l2k4: I think it reasonable to rely on what a telephone support rep at Skype dot com tells me about her company's recent update: since last week, MS's Skype will not support Linux Mint, though other 64-bit ubuntu distros are still supported.

A replacement for Skype on Linux Mint cinnamon, please.(Solved)

Skype rep told me that since last week, MS will not support its telephone service on Linux Mint. I have been using Skype for my dual OS system, Win7 and Linux Mint. I do not plan to update Win7 to Win10 in 2020. I shall then be relying completely on Mint for my computer communications on the web and...

Frequent Updating Bothersome

One of the benefits of my Linux Mint 19.1 cinnamon would be, I had hoped, reduced need to update. This benefit has not been realized. I am notified to update almost every day and several times a day! I would like to suspend updating to once a week. Is there any harm to my allowing the updating to ac...

Re: Wine in Linux 19.1 Mint, a treat or a threat?

To deepakdeshp: Thank you for pointing out something I had not realized: that I can access my Windows data from Mint ! To Paradice: On my Mint system desktop, I double-clicked the Computer icon. A screen appeared with four icons, one of which had the model no. of my hard-drive. I took this to be the...

Wine in Linux 19.1 Mint, a treat or a threat? (Solved)

I notice 108 pages on the subject of installing Wine in 19.1. That surely is a red flag against a cavalier approach to installing Wine. Preferring to err on the side of caution, I ask how reliably to install Wine on my system (described below)? My purpose is to be able to access data files in my Win...

The Many Distributions

Mine is Linux Mint 19.1 64 bit cinnamon. I find much to like about it: freedom from AV protection; quicker start-up and shut-down than Windows7; open source and more. There are also drawbacks: not all peripheral devices, printers, scanners, etc., are easy to install (eg Brother HL-2140) or work with...

Re: Time and date

I find it very disappointing that I should have so much difficulty installing a desktop date and time on the right side of the bottom bar of my desktop. I did have a display of the date but not the time. In trying to install the time, I apparently removed the date, But the menu applets shows the dat...
