[Resolved!] Re: Locked Out After Latest Update!

Somehow, after several days of being locked out, this problem has resolved itself! Go figure. There is nothing I did on my own to resolve this issue. Very strange. Thanks to all of you who tried to help with this issue.

Most likely problem is that you're out of free space. Open a terminal and run the following command and post the results in your reply

Code: Select all

df -h
Larry
Larry...

I did as you said. I couldn't copy and paste the terminal results into a file to print, so I created the attached file.

Locked Out After Latest Update!

I run both Linux Mint 19.2 MATE and Cinnamon from Oracle's Virtual Box/Virtual Machine (version 6). There have been no problems until the latest update to MATE (yesterday, 2 December). I am locked out of MATE only. When I supply the password, there is no complaint about it being the wrong password, ...

[Solved] Is Windows Necessary to Run Linux Mint?

I've tried to find the answer to this subject on this forum and on the Internet, so far without success!

Do I have to have Windows or DOS installed to run Linux Mint? I'd like to install and run Linux without any Microsoft software supporting it. Is that possible?

Re: [SOLVED!] Missing Panel Icons in Mate but Not Cinnamon

Thank you for your response.

I did not know how to re-install the Window List Panel Applet, so I just reset the panel. That brought everything back to normal operation.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. This forum is just great! :D

[Solved] Missing Panel Icons in Mate but Not Cinnamon

I'm comparing Linux Mint Mate and Linux Mint Cinnamon, running both in Oracle's Virtual Box/Virtual Machine. Here's what I've noticed regarding the Panel behaviour in both Mate and Cinnamon: 1.) In Cinnamon, when I run an application the application's icon appears in the Panel. If I minimize the app...

I'm running Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.2 in Oracle's Virtual Box/Virtual Machine. :( I'd like to change the computer name to something else, following the directions in https://winaero.com/blog/rename-computer-linux-mint/. [Unresolved... Will Delete and Re-load] Linux Mint Cinammon Password No Longer Works!

I have been using Oracle's VM Virtual Box to run Linux Mint Cinnamon and Linux Mint Mate from Windows 10 for several months. (I've been very happy with them!) Cinnamon and Mate use the same password. All of a sudden, beginning yesterday, after starting Linux Mint Cinnamon from the virtual box, then ...

[Solved!] Re: Missing Panel Workaround

All the problems I had described in my original post are now gone! Thanks, "smurphos", for your suggestions. THE FIX WAS INSTALLING A FULL MATE DESKTOP. I don't mind the change in look and feel; I'll get use to it. I did NOT apply the "Guest Additions" suggested by "smurphos", due to several people ...
