Re: Linux Mint 20 “Ulyana” Cinnamon released!

When can we expect an upgrade of 19.3 to 20 via software updater? A couple of weeks?

Re: Kernel question

Hi, Steve. For the moment, I would do the same that you do, stick with kernel K4.15.0-47 and prevent Update Manager from updating the kernel. My hypothesis is that it is your specific Intel graphics chip, which may no longer be supported properly by newer kernels. Here is what your inxi report tell...

Xapp status icon

Can anyone explain the purpose of this add on. I upgraded to 19.3 today, and the system advised me to install this, but all it seemed to do was duplicate the system tray icons.

Re: Kernel question

I have upgraded to 19.3. Gonna see if that makes a difference, but I very much doubt it. This will be the last upgrade for this machine - being 32 bit. Shame, it is still a good machine.

Re: Kernel question

Here is the text (although I am probably thinking it is a hardware issue, as this is a very old machine): macgrioghair@macgrioghair-Satellite-M105:~$ inxi -Fxz System: Host: macgrioghair-Satellite-M105 Kernel: 4.15.0-47-generic i686 bits: 32 compiler: gcc v: 7.3.0 Desktop: MATE 1.22.0 Distro: Linux ...

Re: Kernel question

It is a question. I am using Linux mint 19.2 - mate, and the latest working kernel is 4.15.0-47. Every later version I install causes my screen to go black, so I have to downgrade to this kernel every time.

Kernel question

Have they stopped developing kernels for 32 bit systems now. I have stopped updating the kernel for quite a while now, cause they never work on my system

Re: LM Cinnamon 19.2, Update Manager icon missing in tray

Mine loads sometimes now. If I reboot, it will load. So there is still some kind of issue there. I guess it needs some kind of fix

Re: LM Cinnamon 19.2, Update Manager icon missing in tray

Another user may have found a workaround: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=299648 I noticed in Startup Applications, that both my Update Manager and Flatpak updater had same delay start time, so I increased Flatpak by 5 seconds. UM loaded correctly on first reboot, but I'll continu...

Re: LM Cinnamon 19.2, Update Manager icon missing in tray

I don’t have an answer, but the same thing is happening to me with the update manager. I updated from 19.1 to 19.2 on a 64bit system, and the icon no longer appears in the system tray.

Does anybody have any solution?

Re: Private Internet Access

Yes. This is not a Linux Mint issue. PIA have dropped support for 32 bit systems. Legacy still works, however.

Re: Private Internet Access

I think I have figured this out. I just upgraded my 64bit system, and PIA installs perfect. So I am thinking they have discontinued 32bit support with this version.

Can anyone confirm this?

Re: Private Internet Access

I am using ext4. I have tried the last two upgrades, and neither of them ran successfully. I am using 32bit on this system. Is that the reason?

Private Internet Access

Does anyone know how to install the new stable version of PIA in Linux Mint. It installs from a .run ext. It looks like they are changing over to this new version soon, and I cannot install it. Actually, to be accurate, it installs but then won't open a gui afterwards to configure it. Are there libr...
