you can always use apt to install updates. the most popular option would be to use apt-get. If you're interested, open a terminal window and enter "man apt-get" to display the manual.

Someone tell me what makes you prefer Linux? Do you hate Windows that badly? Or are you so experienced in Linux that you can actually perform with no errors and quickly? I would go so far as to say that Mint is the ideal DIstro for beginners. But I would not say it is only for beginners. It is every bit as good as any of the more "complex" (for want of a better word) distros. That's what I like about it. You can install and in most cases it will "just work", making...
