Re: Question About moving software to new OS
Horse, I would backup everything with FoxClone, as prescribed by Andy [he posted in your thread]. For under $70 bucks, you can purchase a 2TB USB HDD from Western Digital, with a 2 year warranty. https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?d=WD+2TB+Elements+Portable+Hard+Drive+USB+3.0+Model+WDBU6Y0020BBK-WESN Than...

Re: Question About moving software to new OS
You can use mint's backup tool to backup the system (software selection), but it's limited. It will only restore applications you have installed from software manager. Backing up and restoring /home or if you have a separate /home partition means you can keep all your config files. I think I might ...

Re: Question About moving software to new OS
Moving personal pics and video is easy, just use a backup drive. I wouldn't do that with software though, you will tend to need newer versions for the new release due to the general lack of backwards compatibility in Linux. I just reinstall them after the clean reinstall. Thank you, i think that's ...

Re: Question About moving software to new OS
Thank you for the information. I've read where doing a standing upgrade from 19.3 to 20.1 will not work well. As a matter of fact, I don't even get the option for an upgrade in my 'update manager' edit column. I don't mind doing a fresh install, I just hate doing all the work of reinstalling all the...

Question About moving software to new OS (SOLVED)
I currently have Mint Cinnamon 19.3 and would like to do a fresh install to 20.1 The question I have is, can I do a backup on my current 19.3 software installs and move them over to 20.1 ? Also, would this be easier with a USB stick, or should I look into getting an external HD ? If so, which extern...

Only Ebay Times Out (It fixed itself)
This probably has nothing to do with Linux Mint, however I'm at a loss. I Have 6 computers , 3 PCs (eathernet cable) , and 3 laptops (WIFI connected) , all with Mint 19.3 All updated the same. All of a sudden 5 days ago I was unable to get on my Ebay with 5 of the computers. The one notebook had no ...

Re: Set user interface scaling wrong
OK, typed in system settings and got to the display page. The setting is now at normal again, but the menu screen is still mostly off screen, like it's to big.

Re: Set user interface scaling wrong
Ok, now everything got smaller but the page is still off screen for the usable part. I still need to move it to get to the system setting to get to the "display" portion. Right now I have everything to the top of the page with the bottom half just being black, and no way to move the top do...

Re: Set user interface scaling wrong
None of that works for being able to drag anything. Holding the alt key and using the mouse or pressing alt and the space bar does nothing.
I saw this in another thread, but for some reason it doesn't work here.

Set user interface scaling wrong {SOLVED}
I messed up. I set my user interface scaling to "double (hi-DPI) and now the screen is too big and I cant move anything to reset it to "auto" . I've looked up some like problems in here and tried the xrandr --output, commands without any luck. How can I get my screen back to "aut...

Re: Could not install the security updates
I'm having the same problem, but only on 2 of my Mint 19.2 computers. The rest don't seem to have this problem. Has anyone come up with an answer. is it hardware, or installed software like Skype? I did recently sign up to Stream Yard, but that's on only one computer and it seems to be only in Firef...

Re: Need H.264 decoder
Well, I found another way to do this, it's not the best way, but it works. The camera opens up 2 options, PMHOME and Removable Disk. Choose Removable Disk and open, PRIVATE/AVCHD/BDMV/STREAM/ directory. Then drop that into Openshot or kdenlive and export to save to a file. This takes a bit of time t...
