Re: Can't Configure Appletts in Cinnamon 19.1

Can you post the full terminal output from those attempts? I had already closed them out, i could run them again but i just realized it makes not sense that i am fixing problems in a system i am trying to compile one perfect clean copy of. i have other issues, residual programming i don't need, all...

Re: Can't Configure Appletts in Cinnamon 19.1

Run in a terminal tail -f ~/.xsession-errors Then leaving that terminal window open try to access some applet config screens. Report back with any output from the tail command produced as you do this. Does it work if you try and access the config via the Applets settings module? Thanks for the repl...

[SOLVED(or no longer relevant more like)] Can't Configure Appletts in Cinnamon 19.1

I have been doing quite a bit of customization of the appearance and layout in my system, in preparation to create my own personal custom distribution that i may perhaps share with a friend or two. I came upon an issue when i tried to adjust the menu. I had installed the CinnVIIStarkMenu, which i li...

Re: [solved] User Profile Picture In Menu

The default Cinnamon menu can be used by creating a new launcher in the Menu Editor that uses your profile picture. You will need to edit the applets.js file in /usr/share/cinnamon/applets/menu@cinnamon.org to increase the size of the icons in the Favorites section. The face in the menu is not mine...

Re: User Profile Picture In Menu

Well, on earlier versions of Mint, at least one person has managed to make Whisker menu run on Cinnamon. Here's an outdated tutorial, use at your own risk! https://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/2349 :!: thanks. you know what i'm gonna give it a go. worst come to worst, there isn't much in a...

Re: User Profile Picture In Menu

Just enabled a user profile picture, which will be displayed in the login greeter screen as well as in the upper left hand corner of my Whisker menu from now on. Would it perhaps be possible to make this work by replacing the cinnamon menu with the menu you are using? i don't want to go in and eras...

Re: User Profile Picture In Menu

I appreciate the replies, however neither one helps my situation. Karlchen's reply sounds useful, but i am not using the same version of mint. i am in cinnamon, and the option you refer to simply doesn't appear to exist. As for AndyMH's reply, Moem is correct, that doesn't make it appear in the menu...

Re: Trouble booting with a flash drive inserted

You should set the hard drive higher in priority, and simply interrupt normal startup to choose a temporary boot device when you need to. the key for that varies by computer, so I'm not sure what yours is.

Re: Black screen after login

Are you by any chance using a lenovo of some kind? i am not certain it strictly happens to lenovos but is a common issue for them. if your settings are to suspend when lid closes, that could be your problem. I have a lenovo thinkpad and i disabled the suspend function because it would always blacksc...

[solved] User Profile Picture In Menu

I'm very fond of customizing the heck out of my operating systems, especially linux. Mint is my favorite by far, and is my main computer's system. I have custom splash screens, Modded SDDM, you name it, but there is one small detail i would like to add that i haven't found a solution to. Is it at al...
