Re: How many are 100% Linux here?

Been a Mac user and fan since the 1990s. It's been interesting to watch my opinion shift so much over time. I could see my 2009 macbook pro starting to become obsolete, but didn't feel comfortable shelling out huge dollars for the new model - a somewhat inferior build, with less connection points, a...

[SOLVED] Suggestions for workspaces or mutliple desktop app for 19.2?

Hi all, Just upgraded to 19.2 and am asking for suggestions on an application to manage 'workspaces or desktops. There doesn't seem to be anything on offer in Software Manager, but perhaps I'm just ignorant on what's available. Or perhaps it's already on my system, and I don't know how to locate it?...

Re: Cannot remove a package.

Thank you for your replies.

Have decided to restore my OS from a snapshot in Timeshift.

I will investigate the non-repo version of Virtualbox.

Duly noted - I will provide more textual information next time I have a problem.

Again, thank you.

Cannot remove a package.

Hi all, I hope someone can help me. I cannot seem to remove a package: virtualbox-ext-pack 5.2 10-3 Every time I try to download a new package or remove an old package, an error appears telling me that some packages could not be installed or removed. Re: Writing a program - Which is the best forum for a newbie?

Many thanks to all for your input, but as it turns out, Murray was right: " It might just be that you need to change how the printing on your Linux machines is configured." There was no need to try and write a program to emulate an app to allow me to connect to the print server. What I needed to do ...

Re: Writing a program - Which is the best forum for a newbie?

Wow. I didn't expect so many replies. Many, many thanks. I'll try and be specific here and clarify: This is the context: I am a teacher, and would like to use my Linux OS instead of Mac OS or Windows. The only thing holding me back is being able to print. The school uses a print server (I hope my te...

[SOLVED] Writing a program - Which is the best forum for a newbie?

Hi all,

I have an ambitious goal to write a piece of software, with no prior knowledge of programming.

I'm fairly sure it is a small application.

My question: Which forum would be the best to seek help from linux software developers?

Many thanks to all who read and consider this.
