Re: NAS mount fstab

The vers=1.0 from your second line is probably the issue (as in, needed) but why did you in that one use the syntax //192.169.1.8/WORKGROUP;Download rather than just //192.168.1.8/Download as before? That was just many of the things I tried, as that was what it looked to me as what Gigolo was using...

Re: SMB-shares, again

Thanks AndyMH... IMO, I prefer using autofs vs fstab for the following reasons: - mappings (not the mount point itself) will disconnect when not in use (depending on your timeout setting), freeing up system resources - typos and bad commands in fstab can potentially lead to issues, including possibl...

Re: SMB-shares, again

I am able to automount my SMB shares using autofs following steps in this link: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=144997&hilit=samba I came across the same challenges you have and struggled for days figuring it out. I now can mount via SMB3 using the following syntax in the /etc/auto...

Re: Synology diskstation & surveillance station - BEWARE

I don't have any issues with what you've described, I am able to launch SS, view live mode and recordings. Everything that I'm able to do accessing from a Win 10 desktop I'm able to do in Linux. I'm running Cinnamon 19.1 and primarily use Chrome, but I also tried it in Firefox and also working fine....

Re: [SOLVED] mounting Synology partitions

I mounted Synology SMB shares using Altair's tutorial utilizing autofs: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=144997&hilit=samba . I prefer this over persistent mapping through fstab as it is more dynamic and will disconnect when not in use, based on your timeout setting. Synology uses S...

Re: Purchasing a UPS to properly shut down Synology NAS in power failure.

Protecting your Synology from abnormal power blips is almost a must, to minimize risk of data loss. When connected via USB, the NAS will auto shutdown when battery gets low. Be sure to purchase one that's compatible from their support link: https://www.synology.com/en-global/compatibility?search_by=...
