Removing DRM from ebooks

Does anyone have experience with the DRM Removal Tool that unlocks, for example, Kindle ebook files?

Re: [SOLVED] Updates won't install

Ongoing solution. Today I got a security update and it did not install even with my new mirror. Touching the "refresh" button solved the problem. I have gone back to my faster mirror.

Re: Is Linux beyond me?

RIH, I am 81 and about as literate with computers as you say you are. I have been using them in one form or another since the early 80's. The first Linux Distro I used was Ubuntu 8.04. That went into a small laptop that I used while traveling. I had that for some time and installed the new versions ...

Re: [Worked around] Updates won't install

I got an update yesterday that installed correctly with my alternate mirror. It was not however a security update (just Thunderbird)

I see now that I need to look below my actual message to see where "attachments" are. Not very obvious, but now that I see it I'm ok. Instructions need detail.

Thanks

Re: [Worked around] Updates won't install

I don't see any way to send you a copy of the screenshot except via email. It is the only option offered. Suggestions?

Re: [Worked around] Updates won't install

Exact quote was "Could not install the security updates" Here's what comes out doing a copy paste of the screen shot: /home/steven/Pictures/Screenshot from 2019-05-27 09-06-19.png Obviously that does not work. The only way I can see to send the real thing is by email. The screen shot taken during th...

Re: [Solved] Updates won't install

The problem was solved so far as being able to update using terminal. The problem with Update Manager persisted (not all the time but sometimes); therefore I did a new post. The message isn't complicated: Cannot complete update and a Red X. steven@steven-Studio-1747:~$ inxi -Sr System: Host: steven-...

Update Manager fails

I posted a problem on 5/14 and the answer was to update using terminal. Of course that does work, as does Synaptic; however the Mint Update Manager continues to fail and that problem needs to be solved. I can't delete it and reload as that is not allowed. It tells me that there are updates and then ...

When I try to open an mp4 file attached to mail on Thunderbird the whole screen goes crazy. Flashing lights, loud noise, chinese characters. I have to shut the laptop down completely. Same mp4 runs fine on from Thunderbird in windows 10.
Thanks

[SOLVED] Updates won't install

Twice recently the Update Manager has indicated that there were updates to install. Each time I clicked to install them a red X appeared in the updates icon and an unable to install msg came up.

Rene, Thanks for all your insights. At one time, when I was starting out with Mint, I did try to use my Seagate backup (that I had used with Windows) to bring files into Mint. This did work but not too well or two easily. The Seagate was, of course, plugged unto a USB port. It is not plugged in now....
