Re: How to delete Timeshift solved

Thanks AndyMH

I didn't like all the space it took up. Could not seem to move it to outside media.

How to delete Timeshift

I installed Timeshift but found it very clumsy. I deleted the app but now cannot delete the data files. I seem to have no control over them as I "don't own them."
Suggestions? I can't believe that I am just stuck with files that I don't want.

Thanks

UNetbootin solved

I would like to make a bootable usb for emergencies. I see conflicting information as to whether UNetbootin is a good way to go or not. I am using Mint Cinnamon 19.3.
Any other ideas for rescue usb. Things that actually worked for someone are best.

Thanks

Turbo Print works very well and does everything. Not free but reasonable.

Re: BIOS upgrade?

Thanks to all. I did the bios flash without incident. Perhaps I didn't need to do it but I did. Since I have more than one laptop I am somewhat inclined to take a chance (after some good advice).

Re: BIOS upgrade?

Perhaps the better question to ask is, Does my Dell Latitude e7240, with 100% Mint Cinnamon 19.3, support UEFI updates. The answers I see on line are not very clear.

Thanks

Re: BIOS upgrade?

"The Universal (Windows/MS DOS) format can be used to install from any Windows or MS DOS environment."

That sounds like I can't update the bios as I do not have the needed environment.

[solved] BIOS upgrade?

I have a Dell e7240 that is 100% MInt Cinnamon 19.3, having been upgraded by me from Windows three years ago. A new bios became available this month and Dell calls it "urgent". Everything is working fine now with the bios I have. Would it be a good move to update the bios or not?

Thanks

Re: Canon ts9120 printer

Sorry to be too blunt. I have been using one sort of Linux or another for a long time and I have learned not to spend a lot of time on solutions that have never actually worked for anyone. My experience is that if a solution is really working for someone, then it should also work for me. On the othe...

This went no where. Are you posting things that you are actually using or just theories?

Canon TS9120 USB psolvedinter/scanner not detected solved

I have the Simple Scan utility installed but it cannot/does not find my Canon ts9120 printer/scanner. The latter is plugged in to my laptop with usb cable.

Re: Canon ts9120 printer

I tried this some time back. The Mint setup only enabled me to do simple print jobs with almost no control (compared with the normal Canon setup on Windows which has all sorts of settings/functions). The Canon recommended drivers were a mess and just didn't work. Have you actually done this with goo...

Re: Canon ts9120 printer

I might add asking about something called BrightQ from Codehost that purports to handle printing with Canon & Linux. Anybody know about this?

Re: Problem defaulting to Thunderbird

gittiest,

That last one was a good idea. Indeed "Handlers" had been taken over by my ISP. I removed the ISP reference and now the default is to Thunderbird.

Than you!

Re: Problem defaulting to Thunderbird

I am using, and always have used, Chrome.

Why would something that was set up correctly all along be solved by a restart? I have now done two restarts with no change on the problem.

Re: Problem defaulting to Thunderbird

Ok. I checked and Thunderbird was and is set as my default. I had't checked off the "always check" box before as it is an irritation, but now it is checked. Didn't yield any new results on the default issue.

Re: Problem defaulting to Thunderbird

I am not on any social media.

On sites that I use there is often an opportunity to contact them by email. In the past when I clicked on the email address it would come up as a "write" on Thunderbird mail, now it defaults to the ISP sign in site.
