Re: Grub failed to install on 201403

it's strange how the forum is virtually flooded with posts about lmde 201403 failing to install grub properly and nobody seems to care much, lmde 201403 is still up in the downloads section without updates and most of the posts reporting the problem remain unsolved =( ok now was my turn to stuble ov...

Re: Right click in thunar; keep mouse button pressed (SOLVED

well… with these minty themes (styles actually) thunar behaves differently from all the other apps, and the only (simple) way to fix this is to just give up and search for another theme not because of looks, but just to avoid this abnormal behaviour? how lame…

Re: language applet...disappears from the panel

thanks for the support! When you add applet to the panel do not move it, just leave it in it's default position. It worked for me on Xfce 4.4 There could also be a conflict if you use some kind of script in step c) and not just plain xfce4-xkb-plugin quite interesting set of conditions =/ Also if th...

Re: A Useful Photo Program...

I have installed Picasa for quite a few Mint clients, they all love it ! great, right. however… picasa is not native, right? packed with wine? i only use wine if i absolutely have to and it's the whole universe's existance issue =) it's not some dumbheaded religious principle — i use atom-based net...

Re: A Useful Photo Program...

i don't see a way to make my linux desktop really useful without either gnome or kde libraries… so since i use linux mint xfce edition which packs enough of gnome already, i choose to go with it. that's why gimp is fine with me. but if you manage to find something (besides the absolutely marvelous i...

Re: Helena Xfce: Wicd or Network Manager?

i had to switch to network manager on linux mint 7 xfce to easily connect via cellular phone and usb 3g-modem. works like a charm, and i like the way network manger unifies interface for wifi AND modem.

Re: A Useful Photo Program...

f-spot? digikam? on xfce? wow... f-spot requires mono. digikam will require a lot of kde libraries. do you really want that on a lightwight distro with a lightweight desktop environment? depending on what you really want and what you're ready to sacrifice you may want to try gqview , geeqie , gthumb...

How do I add new themes I just downloaded?
there're several different ways... check one of them here, there's a video showing the entire process.

p.s. and yeah, i know google translate sucks more often than not =) just watch the video, it's simple.

Re: language applet...disappears from the panel

Welcome to Mint the two language layouts remain switchable until reboot Please clarify, this seems to be the opposite of your problem that's exactly what happens: the language selection applet fails and disappears from the panel (no more flag indicator), however the two layouts remain switchable (v...
