Re: Feature Request: New mouse speed & acceleration settings

It's a driver issue, this happens at kernel level and has little to do with CInnamon or Mate issue, as you should have surmised when you installed Mate and it stil didn't work. Best to jsut get a mouse that works in Linux. I actually figured out a way to get flat acceleration profile, as I summariz...

Feature Request: New mouse speed & acceleration settings

Dear developers, First of all, thank you so much for giving us this beautiful and nearly perfect distribution and desktop environment. Please consider my proposal in the best spirit of constructive criticism. In my experience mouse acceleration (for mouse, touchpad is another topic) is one of those ...

Re: Disable mouse acceleration

Ok after a lot of digging and trial & error I finally figured it out. This method works on Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon, I am using a Logitech M590 wireless mouse, with one of those Logitech unifying receivers. The Xorg configuration files are stored in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d, so change to that dire...

Re: Dolphin File Manager Problems in Cinnamon

Hi Rob, That is the same conclusion I came to. Nautilus, Nemo & Thunar are decent file managers but they have this issue where when a window is full of files or folders in "list" view, you cannot right-click anywhere, because there is no blank "background" space between or around the items. This is ...

Re: USB Audio Interface JACK Xruns on Linux but not on Windows

Yes it's expensive, but I use it for work so the price is justified. For me the noise floor (AKA Dynamic Range) is very important, because I use the ADC to measure low-noise preamplifiers that I build. I got first a Focusrite Clarett 4 Pre but the measured specs were not even close to what they adve...

Re: Dolphin File Manager Problems in Cinnamon

Yes, among others. Dolphin has an internal menu for installing this kind of packages, but when installed through Dolphin, said packages don't "show up" in the list of services. Would you suggest to install this package separately?

Re: USB Audio Interface JACK Xruns on Linux but not on Windows

Just a short update on the matter. It turns out that, for some reason, my Steinberg UR22 audio interface was conflicting with my system. The problem only occurred on my desktop PC, not on my laptop, so probably the issue was very specific to my situation. I recently got an RME ADI-2 PRO FS interface...

Dolphin File Manager Problems in Cinnamon

Dear All, I am running Linux Mint 19.2 with Cinnamon and I love it very much. However, both Nemo and Nautilus file managers are a bit limited for my use, for a number of reasons that I won't bore you with and that I am not here to discuss. The perfect solution to my problem is installing the dolphin...

Wine won't antialias fonts when Cinnamon is set to Grayscale antialiasing

Dear all, I am experiencing a problem: I am using Linux Mint 19.1 CInnamon in conjunction with wine 4.0 stable (and also tested with wine staging 4.9). Wine works fine as long as I keep the default Cinnamon antialiasing setting to RGB. However, if I switch to grayscale in Cinnamon, wine will produce...

Re: New MIME registration from UI file properties

I understand. I am super happy with it, I will hold on to it forever, unless a more "official" alternative ever pops up. I love it so much that, should it ever become incompatible with new linux releases, I would give up upgrading rather than losing this tool

Plus it would only reach LM 20.
What exactly do you mean by that? Will this not be usable for very long?

Re: USB Audio Interface JACK Xruns on Linux but not on Windows

Hello, thank you for your reply and sorry for my late reply  to answer your questions, what I do for testing this behaviour is first play a .wav file with VLC and I get xruns. Then I close VLC and any other playback that I am aware of (including web browser), open reaper or audacity and I star...

I am happy to announce that the package works like charm. I think I speak for all engineers that are stuck with ill-supported, 20-years-old software to do their daily work, when I say that your help is most appreciated. Thank you very much. Special thanks to the original author of this wonderful too...

Re: New MIME registration from UI file properties

Wow, thank you so much! I was able to install the .deb package but when running the app (from the search bar) the window just flashes, I think I can read "scanning... please wait" and then closes with no further notice. I am running linux mint 19.1 cinnamon 4.0.10 and kernel 4.15.0-48-lowlatency. An...

Re: New MIME registration from UI file properties

Thank you very much for your suggestion. An utility like the one you suggested would be fantastic, however getting it to work it requires way more tinkering that I am able to perform, and I think a lot of people might be on my same level of incompetence. Would you be so kind to guide me through the ...

Re: New Features For Nemo Requested

2) yes I know, a lot of engineering software like modelsim, vivado, and some windows software (through wine) is obsolete or not particularly well supported on linux and doesn't register mime types. For instance .mpf .xpr .asc respectively are all seen as text files and changing the default applicati...
