Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

My Minty Netbook Remix desktop on a full sized 17" HP laptop. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_OGFdpDHrpv4/S1_KjFEJ7pI/AAAAAAAAAEA/ytLIa0YOUAU/s800/Screenshot.png Everything works great once Compiz is more or less disabled. My 4.5 year old son's desktop has a bit of an issue with icons disappearing from the de...

Thanks for replying Clem.

Hmm..... Apt or an Apt-hybrid that could help make Linux friendlier for dial-up users..... I wonder if anyone has thought of such a feature?

mintInstall/Klik

I've been wondering whether there would be any way of adding something like Klik compatability to mintInstall so that dial-up users could download and run programs from a pendrive or CD. Maybe when the item is clicked on the web page the script could ask whether the user wanted to 'install' or 'demo...

mintInstall Dial-up friendliness?

I have received a question about mintInstall and whether it would be considered 'friendly' to dial-up users? As I use a high speed FIOS connection it is hard for me to guage slow connection worthiness. Does anyone have any input?

Dependancies for porting mintInstall

At first glance it looks like Python, Java, and Glade are required. What versions of these are needed and are there othere requirements that I haven't yet seen in a quick perusal? Thanks for all your help.

Thank you Facade47. I'll have a look when I get home. If anyone else knows of any other files please let me know. And thanks from the MyPCLinuxOS community in advance! On the Mint side, does anyone know if someone is already packaging the Flock browser for mintInstall? That was the first thing I saw...

Help for a fellow community project......

Thank you for you reply Clem. Where would one find the code for mintInstall? Is the source available for download from somewhere or would it be best to 'extract' it from an install of Mint? By the way..... Mint really is my favorite distro by a hair over PCLOS. But I am also enjoying working with th...

Help for a fellow community project......

Clem, I am also a member of the MyPCLinuxOS community and they have a project that is looking to possibly develop something similar to MintInstall for their distros. Is this something that is possible? Especially as they are a RPM distro? Though they do use Synaptic and APT. If you are interested in...

mezzoMint Community Edition?

What do y'all think? Is a Community version of Mint featuring the Mezzo desktop of interest to anyone? I'm thinking something that uses the corners and maybe offers the 'widgets' but I'm not the most hip on the straight line restrictions they now have - I want to drag and drop them where I please. A...
