Re: Making my own rig.

You may want to check out pcpartpicker.com, they have a few ideas there, plus a pretty decent system builder.

Re: That's it, I'm done. Need advice.

I've loved every Dell machine I've owned so far, most of them I picked up on the Dell Outlet website. https://www.dell.com/learn/us/en/22/campaigns/outlet?c=us&l=en&s=dfh They've usually got some refurbished units at pretty good prices. I'm not a fan of their customer support, but then I don...

Re: I got a Raspberry Pi. What cool stuff should I make?

I have to be honest, I don't know what ZEKE is. I wasn't able to figure it out from internet searches. I still have my train set from when I was a kid, though! I apologize, I wasn't extremely clear. I was referring to Metal Gear ZEKE. I saw the Otacon avatar and couldn't resist! Otacon's REX is one...

Set up an automated model railroad!
https://phwallen.github.io/smrc/
My oval with a couple of sidings doesn't quite need all of that though.

Looking at some of the robots people have made, maybe someone will make a version of ZEKE! :D

Re: Restoring Android on a nexus 7 (2013) tab

I've messed around with custom roms a little, I can't say I recognize anything familiar. I would recommend posting on the XDA Developers forum though, they seem to be able to help a lot of people.

I love my Camry, it's got 479,000 miles on it and still going strong. Not sure how much longer though! It's a Japanese engine, I've heard they go forever.

Coffee! :D I usually fill my coffee cup with Maxwell House Columbian in the morning, and I'm good for the day. Haven't picked up the pot a day habit yet! Has to be black, anything else ruins the flavor.

Re: Whats everyone currently listening to?

This thread gave me a few songs to check out! :D My playlist for this evening contains these albums: Everything Is Fine - Josh Turner, Together Again - Buck Owens, Solid Gold Hits - Beastie Boys, and some miscellaneous Glenn Miller songs. And yes, I have very varied musical interests! Some peo...

Okay, thanks for the replies. I knew that different people I have asked all lean strongly one way or the other. I just wanted to see if anyone knew of any facts that I didn't find anywhere. Thanks again!

[SOLVED] Recommended HDD Brands

I'm looking at purchasing another HDD for my array, and I was just curious which brands everyone would recommend. I already have a 4TB WD Blue 5400RPM and a 4TB WD Black. I would like to get a 6TB 5400RPM this time, but Western Digital Blue is about $155 on Amazon. Has anyone had good success with B...

Re: What is the best way to talk to people about FOSS?

Exactly! I get hardly any cell service in my area, and I can't buy an Ubuntu Touch compatible phone that gets service. Also, there are very few rootable phones that work here either, so I'm somewhat stuck!

Re: What is the best way to talk to people about FOSS?

Thanks for the replies everyone. Most people, myself included, use software because it meets their needs, not because of ideology. I've enjoyed using open source software for a while, first because it was free, then later on because of the community aspect, so I try to introduce people to it that wa...

What is the best way to talk to people about FOSS?

Just curious about everyone's thoughts about this. I sometimes have people comment on my use of Linux when I'm in a group. I always feel I can never explain the reasons I prefer to use open source without becoming preachy or boring. The same thing when someone suggests an app that's linked to Google...

[Solved] Offline Program Installation

Probably something that everyone else that uses Mint knows how to do, but hey! This is the Newbie Questions section! :D None of my computers have regular access to the internet. I do have permission to download files onto a computer at work though. Is there a good way to get programs offline? I trie...

Glad I was able to help! I'll see if I can get that in there. If nothing else, I'll shorten something else.

Go to your username in the top right corner, then Profile/Edit Profile/Edit Signature. At least that's how mine is set up after I already made one! :D
