Smartphone doesn't charge on Linux Mint

Hi friends
Just installed Mint 19.1 on my laptop and enjoying it. However, I can't use my laptop to charge my Android smartphone. It says charging on the phone but it doesn't charge.
Is it normal, is there any tweak to get it charging? Thanks

Move home directory to new partition

Hi friends
I installed mint 19.1, then resized the root partition and created a new one for storing my data. Now I want to mount home directory on the new partition so that all data is saved there.

I'd appreciate a walk through of the procedure. Thanks a lot

[SOLVED] Linux did not boot after partition resize

I am running Linux Mint 19.1 alongside windows 10 on dual boot. Everything was perfect before i made a partition shrink on the root from live usb. Then it will not boot, showing BusyBox and initramfs prompt. Intried recovery mode and it said, before showing busybox: File system check of the root fil...

Re: Linux not recognizing unallocated space as free space

The primary key to the whole thing is to get Windows installed first into a single partition and this How-To article explains how to do that. Or just use my "trick" of formatting the entire drive as one NTFS partition initially, then installing Windows, and then shrinking that single partition so t...

Re: Linux not recognizing unallocated space as free space

I think I will go with a clean install of both Windows and LM19 on dual boot. I have already backed up all data on my disk. Now I can wipe everything clean. This means I have all options open. I'd appreciate your advice on what I should do to avoid facing the same problems again. I will need one par...

Re: Linux not recognizing unallocated space as free space

That last partition showing 895GB is what intrigues me. It made up a partiton of around 250 gb with data in it and the rest is unallocated. Thats what windows shows. This is what brought me to open this discussion thread in fact. Why does Linux not show me the data partion and the free space? Why do...

Re: Linux not recognizing unallocated space as free space

That's great info. I thought of running Linux on virtual machine in Windows but I don't like the idea of having it run 'reduced' performance-wise. What do u think about doing the contrary, i.e. Installing Linux only and running Windows on virtual machine as and when needed? Or run my windows-only ap...

Re: Linux not recognizing unallocated space as free space

Thanks for the reply.
Say I backup up my whole disk and am ready to start over, wiping the disk. I understand that I should do things differently than i did when installing Windows in order to be able to run Linux on dual boot.
How do I proceed?

Linux not recognizing unallocated space as free space

Hi I am a Windows 10 user and want to install Linux Mint on dual boot. I have a partition for the Windows OS and two other partitions for data (NTFS). There is a large chunk of unallocated space, which I intend to use for Linux installation. However, when I access the disk on Linux installation, it ...
