Re: Parallels 5 Tools: kernel source
Have you found a fix? I need 1920x1200 - 24' iMac and I'm running on Parallels. That 1024x768 crosses my eyes :http://forums.linuxmint.com/posting.php?mode=quote&f=90&p=299424#) - being old, it takes a while for me to get my sight back http://forums.linuxmint.com/posting.php?mode=quote&...

Re: Parallels 5 Tools: kernel source
Installing from a DVD gave better font sizes and a 1024x768 resolution: better but not what I want. Installing Parallel-tools just hung; I gave it half an hour then killed it. I'll try once more with Virtualbox before giving up.

Re: Parallels 5 Tools: kernel source
Have you tried running Mint as a live CD to see if your screen resolution problems still exist? It might simply be a problem due to Parallels. Could be, Parallels-tools was to fix that by supplying a Mac display driver that could make any odd-size resolution usable, eg: 1240x625 or whatever, but I ...

Re: Parallels 5 Tools: kernel source
Looked promising, the installer didn't say I had to install any more packages, it just stopped saying "error, press Enter to exit". I'm using a Macbook which has a 13.3 inch screen which translates into a resolution of 1280x800 max. Mint begins with 1920x1080 so I'm constantly pressing <co...

Parallels 5 Tools: kernel source
I'm trying to install M9-KDE on a mac using Parallels 5. Installed fine, now trying to install Parallels-Tools and it keeps choking on the fact that "kernel source" is not installed. What am I missing?

Re: Linux Mint 7 KDE RC1 Bug Thread
But it sounds like the widgets are working? It's just the error message that is wrong?

Re: Linux Mint 7 KDE RC1 Bug Thread
locutus, nice to hear you got things working! With both gnome and KDE these is the first editions where I've kept the default wallpapers. They look great! Edit: I will make sure and test a torrent when I test the final release to make sure that KTorrent is the default. Thank you to everyo...

Re: Linux Mint 7 KDE RC1 Bug Thread
Just did a fresh install on my MacBook pro and everything is working fine. :) This is on its own partition or virtual? I tested (compared) VMware, Parallels and VirtualBox. I was quite prepared to pay the $80 for one of the first two if they worked well enough. But they didn't, at least for me. VB ...

Re: Linux Mint 7 KDE RC1 Bug Thread
locutus, I can not get an install to complete in VirtualBox 3.0. I switched to an earlier version of VirtualBox and everything is fine again. Just thought I would pass that along to you. OK thanks exploder. I'll see if I can download an earlier copy. I may even have one since I archive most dmg's E...

Re: Linux Mint 7 KDE RC1 Bug Thread
I've switched to Mac, more for the quality of the hardware than any special love for the OS. Trying to install M7-KDE-RC1 in VirtualBox on the Mac failed two times. Both times got to 84% and then just stalled and hung. I asked and received instructions on how to make a partition on a Mac and install...

Re: Install KDE on Gnome Install - Felicia
Yeah I know, but still kubuntu_desktop will basically install a complete kde desktop right? I seem to have a working KDE installation its just that I can't use the desktop interface. Since I can load programs with gnome-do (including changing KDE-settings) I think it is a relatively minor problem. ...

Re: Install KDE on Gnome Install - Felicia
Hi all, I have been trying to install kde on gloria but although I get no errors when installing the kde, kubuntu_desktop packages, when I log into kde I cannot click on anything. Gnome-do (win-space) still works and any other apps i launch from it but the desktop is useless. Any ideas? You'll also...

Re: Install KDE on Gnome Install - Felicia
I really hate KDE4 is there any way to install KDE3 in mint? : :?: You could probably do it yourself, starting off with the Gnome edition and adding the repositories from Debian or some such distro, a ubuntu derivative would be better. You might lose a lot of what makes Mint, Mint. In any case I wo...

Re: Taskbar wrong M7-RC1
Also, seeing as it seems you wanted an exact copy of the lower panel, you could have just moved it to the top using the preferences. Um, that's right, isn't it? I've been using M6-KDE for the last several weeks and you can't do that in KDE4. I'd forgotten already that Gnome allows that. Thank you :)

Taskbar wrong M7-RC1
I deleted the bottom taskbar and created a new one at the top of the screen. Almost worked: the is a large space taken up by, what? It's blank. I don't see anything I can move to make it smaller, and right-clicking on the space does not give anything I can remove. Here is a screenshot, with a (poorl...

Re: Install KDE on Gnome Install - Felicia
Oh I definitely understand M6's delay. I was merely suggesting that since it was so recent maybe you could skip M7; it's not the Main version after all.Husse wrote:The reason Feleica KDE was so late is KDE 4 and the work that had to be done to iron out the worst

Re: Install KDE on Gnome Install - Felicia
You see KDE 4.2 is still only available in PPA repositories (which means more or less beta or even alpha) You could install KDE and then the gnome package (and I don't know what it's called  ) and then the metapackage for main How is that, exactly? Felicia-KDE used 4.2, but 4.2 is _not_ in t...

Re: Mint on a Mac?
Which boots first? Does the grub show up first and have an option to boot Mac or does BootCamp load and have an option to boot into grub? I've only used BootCamp once before, setting up Windows on my son's Mac, but I don't remember what, exactly, BootCamp was going to allow me to do, except it would...

Mint on a Mac?
I'm considering buying a Macbook laptop (not Pro), and would like to put Mint on it as well. Has anyone done this? Is it a straight forward operation with BootCamp or is there more work involved (seeing as it's an ext3 and not ntfs partition)?
