GDM multiuser switching issue
My issue is simple, yet it is a blocker bug if I'm going to convert my parents into using Linux Mint. When a user has locked his or her screen, there is a dialogue window that appears when you wish to unlock the screen again. On this dialogue window there is a "Switch user" button that if ...

Background issue after fixing resolution with xrandr modes
Hi there lads and ladies. I had the issue after installing Linux Mint 9 that the system would not automaticly detect the resolutions available for my screens. So I ran over to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Config/Resolution and added xrandr modlines to my GDM Default init script and my .xprofile. Now th...

Re: Wallpaper contest for Mint 9
I personally think that to date, the best mint background is the default in Linux Mint 7. I had to look a lot at it before I could decide upon that it is a photo of a hood of a car. Whether or not that is actually the case I am unsure. But you always end up looking a lot at the background, and it sh...

Incorrectness in the introduction to Linux Mint guide
I am currently reading trough the introduction to Linux Mint to basicly see if I can recommend this guide for new users of Linux Mint and if it explains the installation in a human way, which it does. Tough I have found one thing that is incorrect in the guide, and that is a small note about compute...

Re: Linux Mint 8 RC1 Bug Thread
One thing that I have thought for quite some time is that the Administration and Settings menus are too large. They could both be split into a third menu called Visual options or something like that. May be a good solution. May also be just cumbersome and unneeded. But the Admin and Settings menus a...

Re: Linux Mint 8 RC1 Bug Thread
Ditto joebobwilson The propitary drivers for my HD4850 did not download and install once Linux Mint was installed. I had to go over to ATi's website and download it from there. Tough the odd thing is that it did install on the LiveCD, tough I did not test if it actually worked since I had to restart...

Re: Linux Mint 8 RC1 Bug Thread
I got three papercuts immediatly on booting the LiveCD. 1. There is an obvious green square outside of the flashing Linux Mint logo on Boot. The logo was also too large but that might be solved once I install the distribution. 2. Was the standard background imeage. The green gradient in the lower le...

Re: Ubuntu-Backports repository as an apt-source by default
Well personally I do not think that the user are satisfied with the stability that is. There are obvious problems. Stability actually means that the repository will never be updated. And in the case of for example Kdenlive or Kompozer that means that the application will crash if you use even the si...

Ubuntu-Backports repository as an apt-source by default
So this is my idea for a blueprint: To use Ubuntu-Backports as a default repository. The reason why this should be implemented is that most users will want to update their Firefox browser from 3.0 to 3.5 when the new version is being released. Most users want the to use the newest release of Kdenliv...

There is one thing that makes tracking conversations much easier and that is putting <username>: in front of every reply. Makes filtering out information much much easier both if you are the one directly spoken to or if you're just fallowing the conversation to see if you can help. I know there is n...

Re: Linux in Schools
This is an interesting topic that I've been thinking of myself. But I'm more interested in the technical aspect if it.
Can anyone link more projects that are instituting Linux in schools and especially how they are doing it?

I will try out testdrive And maybe I in my previous post failed to express that I have followed every handbook, done all guides there are to restore the OS on the PMP but it does not recognize that there is anything on the harddrive. It simply doesn't. So it is with that ruled out that I come to thi...

Harddrive testing
I got a problem you see. I was playing around with different distros on my Portable Media Player. Namely a Cowon A3 with a 60GB harddrive. And so it came that I stupidly enough entered gparted and added a boot flag to the one partition on my PMP to see if it maybe would make it bootable on my old co...

The Linux Mint FAQ
I did not find any topic around the forum that brought this up so I tought I better do it. And as the headline reads it's about the FAQ which is very outdated. On the first note it talks about if Linux Mint is suitable for companies and it mentions the possible LTS of Bianca or Cassandra. Next lette...

Just a tought.
Shouldn't a sponsorship be 10USD or atleast 5USD.Because you are getting your companies logo up there.
All these 0.5USD sponsorships are kinda silly.
