Mint v19.3 audio popping

I installed mint v19.3 Tricia yesterday. It's working fine except that a sometimes startlingly loud popping noise is produced whenever an audio/video file begins. Is there a way to resolve this without downgrading to v19.2?

Autocheck Spelling Issue

Hello, I'm experiencing an issue with the Autocheck Spelling feature in my Mint 19.2 installation. Autocheck functions in my local programs but not with any of my online email services. It's not working in thois ffiorm eiaether. I'm a relatively new Linux user and can't figure out where this feature...

Re: Folder sharing issue

Well, I certainly appreciate you taking a thorough stab at it. You've not only validated my suspicious that "This should work!", but it's been an interesting and informative introduction into Linux commands and network troubleshooting. Thank you for all your suggestions.

Re: Folder sharing issue

I appreciate your continued help. Here are the results. Mac still refuses to budge whether requesting either hostname or IP, though I can open the folder just fine using the same address on Linux. We never addressed my encrypted home directory, so I'm guessing that's not an issue(?) Thanks in advance.

Re: Folder sharing issue

My apologies. I was able to see AND access my share after your previous instruction, (i.e. "some progress"), but Mac can still only see any folder I share, not access them. At this point I'm just trying to solve for Mac access. I'm up for trying anything short of installing another OS. At that point...

Re: Folder sharing issue

Some progress. After editing smb.conf, I am now able to see the share on the network. However, Mac still cannot see the share, though it can ping the host.

Thanks in advance.

Re: External drives not visable in backup programs

I tried to delete my last post but you responded too fast. So, it does seem to be working now. Perhaps I mis-keyed the pathway in my previous attempt. I'm going to run some test backups to confirm. Thanks again.

Re: Folder sharing issue

You bring up a salient point. In fact I DID encrypt my home directory, (I believe I was prompted during installation). After you reminded me, I tried re-creating the share on a seldom-used Windows partition reasoning that it should be exempt, but permission was still denied. Not sure if there is a w...

Thanks altair4. Here are answers/outputs to your questions. Avanti is running. Folder sharing issue

Apologies if this is the wrong subforum. This is the final issue from my first Linux installation, (Mint 19.1), coming from a Windows background. My partner, (Mac), and I, (Linux), would like to share a folder that is hosted on my computer. I can right click on the folder and define Sharing Options-...

SOLVED External drives not visable in backup programs

(Thanks Farkas). Solution: a pathway to the destination folder must be defined. I am trying to set up scheduled backups of personal files on my first Linux install, (mint 19.1, 64 bit). I've installed and tested Luckybackup and Back in Time. Both work great ostensibly, but neither can see my externa...
