Re: The most frustrating thing about Mint
have you created a bootable linux mint with unetbootin lately? yes i have, and YES i have used it WITHOUT issue. I used unetbootin just yesterday and it worked. Start Up Disk creator that is supplied with the Ubuntu derivatives does not work any more. It refuses to select the .iso you want to use.

Re: Driver: Ralink RT3092
If you can't see your wireless router and you don't have an Ethernet port, you cannot update the kernel drivers. Why does my wireless card work with Ubuntu derivatives, but not Mint, when Mint is based on Ubuntu? At least it used to be based on Ubuntu, maybe things have changed. Not that it matters ...

Re: Forum Password Requirements
I never save passwords on my computer it's too insecure. I would like to use the password I want, I don't want someone else to tell me what password to use. I had to use the password that was emailed to me a few hours ago to log in this time, Since it was sent through Google Mail it's extremely inse...

Forum Password Requirements
i'm 76 years old and the forum Password requirements are too stringent. I tried to enter a qualified password, but it is rejected. I guess I will have to have a password emailed to me every time I want to login. I honestly cannot deal with a bunch of different overly complicated passwords. It leads ...

Re: Linux Mint 19 - No WiFi Option Available
I've been a Mint Mate user for years, but I'm unable to install the recent releases of Mint/Mate on the following compter as the wireless card is not supported by Mint/Mate. I was forced to use Kubuntu as a result. Ubuntu/Mate will also install as well as Manjaro KDE. The most recent Mint I tried wa...

Re: Character Pallette file location?
I don't think it's charactermap. Character Pallette is an applet that runs on the Mate panel. It has various non standard characters that are chosen from a drop down menu.

Character Pallette file location?
Does anyone know where the file for the Character Pallette program is located. I had a custom Pallette in my previous installation, I updated to 17 and would like to put my old configuration into the new installation. I did back up my /user/home to a USB drive so if I know where to look I could repl...

Re: Observations / suggestions / questions from a new user
Maybe Ubuntu will become the child, and Mint will be the parent. It is disheartening that Mark Shuttleworth started to violate his own code of conduct.

Re: Observations / suggestions / questions from a new user
I fully agree with your thoughts on Cinnamon and its behavior. Particularly the point on the selection after search. I get messed up on that all the time.

I'm still wanting to know how to remove the day of the week from the clock. That and making the icons on the panel just a tad larger.

I agree, an opaque menu is essential.CharlesRHead wrote:I too love Linux Mint & cinnamon and appreciate all that Clem and his team are doing for us. However, like another user above, I would like to make the menu opaque and more readable. I'd appreciate any help in doing that. Thanks.

Re: Another DE option for Mint 12 - Cinnamon
How would you remove the Day and Date from the Cinnamon Panel, leaving only the Time. You can hide the date in dconf editor under "org/cinnamon/clock", but you can't hide the day. I'll have a look in the panel.js. OK thanks, I now have no date displayed, but I decided to add seconds becau...

Regarding the "Themes" button. It seems as though it could do something more all encompassing such as "System Configuration" or simply "Configuration".
