Hi friends, I had been an exclusive Linux, (mostly Mint KDE), user until not long ago when I got a new desktop with dual core 2.3, processor 8g of ram and 500 gig hard drive with Windows 7 64bit. To be fair, its' great, but so is Mint and I miss it. I am trying Mint 10 on live DVD ; it is fabulous a...

Re: Linux Mint 7 "Gloria" KDE RC1 released!
I have been using "Gloria", ( sounds odd doesn't it ?), for about two days now and I really like it. It is not only elegant but tight, fast and so far, reliable. I felt that KDE 5 was best up until now. I have not had any problems with anything except I can't find the screen savers. ( I li...

Mint 6 Main on Laptop
I'm using Mint 6 Gnome on one partition and KDE 5 on the other, no other partitions. My wife has a Toshiba M35X -S114 laptop that is running Windows Xp with 1.3 g Celeron with 1536 ram. I wanted to use the laptop on a trip and just wanted to run the Mint off the CD. I had never tried it before so I ...

I'm trying to get musical notes to play from violinonline.com for self instruction. when I click on a note, no player opens and I can't find any that will play these files. All my other sounds work fine so I'm figuring that neither the main edition v6 or the KDE 5 that i have dual installed on my ma...

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa XFCE CE RC1 (BETA 025) is out!
I am a Mint KDE user but I also like to try new things. I tried the Gnome Elyssa three different times but had problems of puzzle like pieces coming off the screen image where I clicked the screen. I didn't know how to fix it so I went back to Daryna KDE. I installed this one and have been working o...

dual Mint install solved
Hi all, I love Mint so much I have installed Daryna 4.0 in hda1 and XFCE beta in hda3. I had 4.0 installed first and when I added the second partition with Parted Magic I added the KDE version first, but I crashed it trying to figure out how to do this in a terminal which I don't know how to do. I k...

Whenever I start to mess with my partitions I always get a headache and put it off. This time I am really serious, though and hope to get an answer to a couple of questions that I can't find anywhere. If I use two or more Linux distros on the same drive, can I partition one /home and /swap to serve ...

Using Daryna 4.0 and it is great. Have installed and run all versions ,(kde, ofxce and gnome ) and they are all great. For this old Hp Celeron coppermine 667 the regular Gnome packages seem to work better. While the only tweeking I do is to the boot/grub/menu.lst to force shut down at exit, I do add...

Perfect live install , works great, recognizes all my stuff , won't shut down. I tried control-alt-backspace and control-alt-delete but it didn't respond. I am using Celena 3.1 exclusively now and I had to do the forum suggested terminal fix in order to get it to shut down. No problem, even I can do...

My desktop is getting old and I want to get a new one, probably a P-4 with a gig of ram and 250G hard drive. I use Mint Cassandra 3.0 now and it's the only thing I have installed. I want to continue to use it 90% of the time , but there are a couple of things that I need Windows for and I would like...

Thanks a lot !

Linux Mint XFCE Cassandra Community
I run an older Hp 667 Celeron with 384 ram. I did a clean whole disk install of this one yesterday and it is great! It does everything just like its supposed to except shutdown, (which I now know how to fix). This distro is clean smooth and very fast. I have been waiting for the stable KDE of Cassan...
