Re: GNU/Linux is just terrible ! when it comes to utilization and performance ( on my system )

1 - install hardinfo to test the CPU 2 - install GpuTest to test the 3D (OpenGL) in Full screen It is not so surprising I personnaly get better scores with Windows XP than with Linux Mint on some benchmarks (Tessmark x32 4200 pts on XP versus 3560 and Tessmark x16 9645 on XP vs 5400  ) and no...

Re: A good VPN (minimum requirements)

I don't understand what you're asking for....a clickey-clickey desktop button to toggle your VPN service? In my knowings about VPNs that work on OS, to get a killswitch, means to install an application other than openvpn, or in addition to openvpn, so if the VPN gives no application for Linux then ...

For the rare occasion where I need a VPN, I use ProtonVPN, which is open source, runs on Linux (among others), and has a kill switch option. I'm sure there are others out there. Proton VPN, it works, I test it for free and I succeded to install their application for Linux, it seems to be serious, b...

In a few year's time petrol/diesel vehicles will be legacy vehicles because they become outdated. A legacy (or classic) printer is one that requires a vendor driver. New printer technology does not use vendor drivers.

Re: LM20 HP Envy 4500 >>> 3 printers now !!!

So I'm not typing this out again, try this: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=1969890#p1969890 The linked will get rid of ONE duplicate. For usb connected printers with wireless enabled (which causes two duplicates instead of one), you can uninstall the ippusbxd package and that should g...

You are absolutely wrong on all of it.

Re: And so update grub is not able to fix a dual boot ?

It looks like GRUB is still pointing to LM 19.3 so using /boot/grub/grub.cfg in sda1 for its menu. It is a rare thing as, on Installing LM 20, GRUB would be pointing to your new LM 20 installation (unless it has failed or you have ran Boot Repair reverting changes). So (to be sure): -First, check t...

Re: Does Youtube-dl not work anymore?

Also worth noting. youtube-dl needs to be updated regularly, as the maintainers constantlmake small changes to try to keep ahead of 'changes' in the hundreds of sites it tries to work with. The command to update it (in a Terminal) is generally: youtube-dl -U however, if you get an error saying it c...

[SOLVED] And so update grub is not able to fix a dual boot ?

There are two issues here in fact : 1 - Why Timeshift change my grub at each restoration ? it is visible because at the first boot it identifies Linux 19.3 as ubuntu 2 - Why sudo update-grub2 is not able to restore the right dual boot choice ? as the log shows it identifies windows XP on the other d...

Re: How to repair dual boot destroyed by Timeshift #noUEFI

It doesn't work

When I boot I get

>> Linux 20
>> Linux 19
>> System setup > gives an error message

I have just to reinstall from the beginning I guess

when I chose the windows disk at boot, it works without any issue
