Re: Okay explain this update please

I guess the the reason I'm even asking, is I cut the MS ties, and want nothing to do with them.

Not likely anything bad will happen. If it gives a problem just uninstall it. Or, if really scared, live without it. :)
How do I access it after install?

Re: FireFox for Mint?

Okay, I did figure it out, but haven't installed it. Frankly it scares the crap out of me.
What happens after I install it? Can anything bad happen?

Re: FireFox for Mint?

kamie, go into synaptic package manager and install needrestart. The command for it is sudo needrestart Not to sound like a moron, but confused? I found synaptic package manager, but I have no idea how to proceed from that point? Not that it is an issue at this point, but know I'm curious.............

Re: FireFox for Mint?

Was FF the only update? Something else may have been updated and required a reboot to work properly. There's a pervasive myth that in Linux you don'tt need to restart except for kernel updates. Which isn't necessarily quite true. If you install debian-goodies from the repos there's a handy utility ...

Thanks for all the replies.
I did restart all FF windows but nothing helped except a reboot of the machine.
After that the issue was fixed.

Firefox updates come through the Update Manager, I just got FF 68.0 today.
Thanks, that is what I have to. Must have just been a glitch with Netflix then, or the reboot that fixed it.

FireFox for Mint?

Almost 3 weeks since I had a question so YEAH me. When I used to have windows, I would always down load FF updates through the menu/help process that tells you what version you are running, and update would show up. Today I got a FF update through LM update manager, and then had some issue...

Re: often, when waking up my linux mint it does not ask for password

I can't help but can tell you, the only time I've had to use a password for anything lately was to install updates or change settings. Used to have to enter it to wake up my computer as well. It doesn't bother me, but I'm curious as well what changed?

Re: Past due.

Welcome, Came over to Mint about 2 months ago myself, and haven't looked back. 10 was horrible and like you, the simple fact that MS thought they knew better than the end user, made the decision a very easy one. Only used 10 for 1 month and it drove me nuts, and wasn't worth the headache of worrying...

Hi Sky,
We are neighbors. SW Missouri here.
I made the jump to MInt about 2 months ago, and love it. Keep begging my 72 year old Mom to do the same. She is still with windows 7 as well.

Re: Dual Monitor Problem

I had issues with dual monitors at first, not sure why. Fixed it with just unplugging the cable and reinserting. Not sure that will help you, but its worth a try.

Re: Who can maintain Linux for my wife

Kind of a depressing topic, sure it must have been discussed before but can't find anything. Any thoughts on maintaining Linux Mint on my computers when I am gone for my wife? Course no one knows when that day will occur or if I will go first. We are both in our 70's and my wife isn't computer lite...

SLOVED Google Chromium undate question

Hi again all, just a quick question about the chromium updates today. I don't use or like Chrome and mainly just use Firefox. Today I get 2 updates, both for Chrome, one update for Chrome was a security update, the other was a 3rd party update. I am aware that 2 bowers are a good thing but I don't w...
