Well being me, with a short memory, I wrote them both down. Now if I can just remember where I put the paper it's on.
How about the Post It note at the side of the monitor where we store passwords?
Giggle, never used that, when it comes to passwords, my memory is 120 precent.

Re: SOLVED Update manager question

You're welcome. The Alt key thing can be handy, but is sometimes hard to remember if you almost never use it. One thing I've never seen mentioned, if the missing box is just an "OK" box, clicking on Enter should probably activate it. Well being me, with a short memory, I wrote them both down. Now i...

After running that, is there another step?
Just click Refresh in Update Manager and the red X should be gone.
Thank you, it worked, and I didn't get to test the Alt key left mouse button, but hey a win is a win.
Thanks again everyone.

Sounds like the guy renamed the PPA. Unfortunately the GUI currently provides no way to handle that error (the tall error window is another bug), instead you must open a terminal window and run:

Code: Select all

apt update -y
After running that, is there another step?

External Montior Lap Top issue

Hello, The past three days, my laptop monitor goes dark. My external monitor however is fine. The only way I've found to fix the issue is to reboot. Then the next day the issue repeats. My laptop sucks and my external monitor is older, but I haven't had any problems since installing Mint a few month...

Weird FF issue

Hi Today was the first time this has happened. Specs are in my signature. I don't like or use tabs, just open multi pages as needed in FF. There is one page, I open and minimize to hide so it stays open, in the event I loose internet. To bring it back I just hover over the FF icon in the tool bar an...

Re: ...to dual boot or not to dual boot

Not sure what the OP was talking about, but just sharing links I've watched in the past. Before I made the leap to MInt.
After 10 I had no desire to have anything windows on this computer, so dual booting to me made no since. Everything I need done can be done without windows.

I saw something similar on youtube not to dual boot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JeP5wGd6wk
There was also this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9iX2qSfMhE
Not sure either is the one to OP was talking about though.

Try right-click on the folder and choose Make Link.
Then drag that shortcut to desktop

(Solved) Photo shortcut to desktop?

Hi again.
Is there a way to create a shortcut to my desktop of one folder in my photos?
Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.1
Version 4.0.10
Kernel 4.15.0.54 generic
Graphics Card Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Wani [Radeon R5/R6/R7 Graphics]

I tried right clicking and didn't see the option.

Re: Just Starting Research On Linux Mint

Hi Stephen, I've been using Mint 19.1 for about 4 months, only had a couple of minor hiccups so far. I too used Windows since the mid 90's, but couldn't take 10 home that came with my latest laptop. Wiped it completely off my computer, and haven't regretted the decision. The support here is wonderfu...
