Food that is fine dining: https://www.cypresscreekinn.com/ They also made Texas Monthly's issue of 40 best small town cafes. The Chicken Fried Steak is about the best I have ever eaten. If you visit tell Ben (the waiter) and Sergio (Owner/Cook) hello! Time for a road trip..............................

I go one extra step with a 5.25" bay mounted power panel. Six buttons to independently select hard drives, DVD burners, etc.
Simply said any drive that hasn't powered up won't impact any other.

"One of my best friends has the "Converted gas station theory" of Tex-Mex places. His theory is if it is in a converted gas station, run as a Mo"m and Pop, the food is going to generally be awesome. His corollary to that is the more Yuppie it looks, the worse the food.

Re: Fine dining
One lesson my dad taught me well was how to find a great place to eat. Particularly when new to an area like when vacationing far from home. Skip the ads along with any and all flyers that might be in the hotel room. Instead just drive around a little and observe the parking lots. Good places tend t...

Re: move /home to another partition
Another option is to use a separate Data partition. I have two Data partitions (I keep my photograph projects on a dedicated partition), and use symlinks. Here is a tutorial - I think most of the information and instructions are still valid. One major exception is in the section for editing the fst...

I did something similar with an iMac. I may have used import with Showfoto. Also possible I used grsync then opened the images with Showfoto. All the metadata was there.
You may wish to try a couple image viewers to see if one or more shows the dates, albums, etc.

Re: Only in Texas....
diatomaceous earth is a simple to use and safe around people and pets solution. Not a fast kill though. I will check Lowes to see if they have any. Diatomaceous Earth comes in two primary grades: one is the normal best used for killing bugs. The other is actually a food grade. Well worth the time t...

Re: Editing bookmarks
I had exported the relevant bookmarks html files. Opened each using OpenOffice Writer html function. Cut and paste, edit, delete, etc as a new document. That document saved as html does not work properly if I try to import bookmarks file. But if I merely open the file and click a link the browsers a...

While many focus on costs it is wise to watch consumption just as closely. Not just appliances and such. Years ago a dear friend in Richmond, TX complained about her sky high electric bills. Only took a few seconds to see one of the key reasons. Her grandson came in and out of the house so often tha...

I'm working on a project combining bookmarks from Google Chrome and FlashPeak Slimjet onto a single document. Some existing will get deleted while others are added or edited. Thought I had the solution using LibreOffice Writer in HTML mode. At least until I tried to use it. Using Slimjet I can open ...

Already being a Gmail user it was a natural fit. Convenient to use checking appointments and such while at a doctors offic...

I like giving away a usb live flashdrive. Works great for college students. Should their machine not boot from the installed OS inform them this enables access to those files and even allow printing as well. Soon they may ask could I work on those files? Yup. What else can it do? Lots, have fun expe...

Re: Chili dogs-comfort food for the soul
You take a hot dog bun, add a good quality hot dog (the best a grilled), add yellow mustard, diced onions, chili and sprinkle on grated cheese (cheddar is best). No thanks. But if I may ask: what is 'chili' in this case? A powder, a pepper? If the latter: fresh, pickled, sliced, whole? I just don't...
